The Grebe
Pretty much. Once in awhile there is a fight and when there is, it is usually pretty good, but most of the time it's like you said, just boxing. And, and, if they don't start doing something about the mismatches and fighters pulling out and chumps taking their place, in my opinion, boxing is going to keep losing popularity. mrklean
I havent watched boxing since Iron Mike stopped, or was forced to stop
The Grebe
I started gradually losing interest when I seen my first cage match, back when Gracie was doing in everybody. Kicking, stomping, head butting, elbows, just about anything was legal, kinda like the bar fights and street fights we used to get into when we were younger!Tough hombres like Don Frye, Tank abbott, Dan Severn, Shamrock when he was young.....brawlers, thats why Gracie whipped up on some of the bigger fighters, he had more technique. The not so technical guys from back then wouldn't have lasted to long with the guys now I don't think? Unless they were able to hit em of course. The Grebe
More free UFC comming up this week-end, Diaz vs Stevenson and a few other matches ought to be a good card.
Hitman54
I thought it was Diago Sanchez Vs. Stephenson???
kingkobbla
The Main Event is Joe Stevenson vs. Diego Sanchez. Other big namers who are fighting are Josh Koscheck, Nate Marquardt and Wilson Gouveia. Demian Maia vs Chael Sonnen will be another good one to watch for. rosspj59
On monday spike had a ufc marathon. Some of the best shows were the ultimate knock outs. Tank Abbott had quite a few. Those old fights were crazy. I remember watching the first couple UFC's back in college when the fights didn't have rounds. They just continued on until somebody was knocked out or tapped out. Shamrock was awesome back in the early years too. They showed a couple of Pat Miletich's knockouts as well. The iceman had several great knockouts shown along with the others. jltimm
Dang it! I missed it but I probably saw alot of it before! Tank REALLY knocked some guys out!
The Grebe
One of the guys I used to like to watch from back then, was Don Frye, man that dude was mean! As he got older, he seemed to get more muscular and heavier....he fought this big blonde Asian dude in a slug fest that left the best man standing, man what a classic. koonie
That fight was awesome! Like a hockey fight in the ring.
jltimm
How about when Don Frye fought Tank.Frye got caught by one of Tanks bombs and flew across the ring onto his &$$ but Tank couldn't finish him and lost the fight.
The Grebe
Was that the one where Frye was all bloodied up? Had a couple of big gashes in his gourd, but Tank gassed and Frye worked him over...is that the one?
jltimm
I think that's the one? It's been a long time since I saw it. I really remember Frye coming forward and Tank sending him backwards with one of his famous bombs. It would be a good fight to see again! kingkobbla
Tan Abbott actually fought some jobber this weekend and TKO'd him in about 30 seconds. He's fighting in Ken Shamrocks new MMA promotion. I can't remember what it's called. But Ken also fought too, some 6'6" guy weighing 360 pounds. took only about 1 minute to slap on the armbar. Sounds like Ken Shamrock vs. Tank are due next cause ken was talking lots of trash after the fight
