45 Unforgetable Bowhunters

Has anyone read the new archery book, 45 Unforgetable Bowhunters? I just got it and started reading it. It looks interesting. It's written by M.R. James and he's been there/done that in the archery world. He knows tons of info about lots of interesting characters from the world of archery. If anyone's really interested in archery and the personalities in the archery community, I'd recommend it (at least so far).

Since your on the book talk, I have been ready Bowhunter-The Modern Bowhunter, "Gear Up" by Curt Wells. We all know who he is and does a great job laying out the tips of all the gear and gizmo's a bowhunter needs. I'm readying it for the second time and taking specific notes or tips like using duck tape for blisters, no cotton clothing EVER, and such. Look it up and read it you will be surprised on somethings we all can do better or over look to make our "game" a little better.

MR, I've not read that one. I'll have to take a look...

Space, there's a chapter on Fred Bear. I don't remember any mention of the elephant, but I'm not sure I would. I can tell you that story doesn't play a prominent role in the chapter of Papa Bear though.

There's some talk about POD, but not too much. The chapter was well written and very respectful of the single greatest archery figure in history. He does mention POD, but keeps it pretty minimal. He's not out to smear people in the book, just give info and an account of what they did, who they were, and how it is that they became an "unforgetable bowhunter".

I've read the chapter... well done. I enjoyed the part in regards to the arrow that was found with Fred's name on it. Last time he put his name on an arrow!

I was more curious as to the elephant being taken by pod? I know a few of his african trophies (cape buffalo & lion) were noted pod kills.

I didn't mean to change the direction of your post. Sorry for that.
