I went and got my new auger today from Red Rock! I got the Jiffy stx pro and man I am so pumped up to go use it. I cannot wait to get out on the water tomorrow. I will prolly drill so many holes and will prolly offer to drill holes lol. Then when I started it up it was a pretty purr.

It is the 2 HP and I got it for $389. It was one heck of a price and great deal. She sure is pretty!

I cant say heck with Nils cause I was thinking of getting one and he was out. Which is fine with me cause I saved some money. Even tho Nils is the best and wanted it but I had to go cost ways cause of college. Either way it beats hand drilling holes!

don't forget to break her in good and run a tanke o gas through it. I got the 3hp this summer and i just sat in my front yard running it and drinking beer. i think the neighbors thought i was crazy. Have fun man

Yeah, great auger. I have the same one. Follow the break in rules and it'll be good to go. Consider using Amsoil Sabre from the start. It will help with the cold bloodedness that I experienced. Another thing to consider is to tighten down the idle screw about a quarter or half turn to keep it running between holes.

Good purchase, I love the STX blades!

Like Far-l said you will want to get her broke in good. A small engine mechanic that I know said that the problem with these augers is that they usually don't run long enough or work hard enough to really get broke in (meaning they pop only a hole or four at a time). I also start mine every few months in the off season just to keep things flowing. Enjoy!!

I also bought this auger last season, with 10" auger. then i was very impressed loved it. this year it seams to have gone down hill, . For one the gear case started leaking oil, does not start as easly as it should (10to 15 pulls to stay running) and it seams to have a serious loss of power and is slow. When i first got it when drilling it would lift and throw the ice out some, now you have to keep lifting up on the auger to clear it.When i start it at home in the garage it seams to have power to spare, but take it out in the cold to punch holes and it just doesnt have it. Anybody experiance this.

I hope you have better luck.and enjoy. Good luck all

Mine works great. I had a little trouble with the idle for a while. It was really lean. After messing with the adjustment screws a little she really rips through holes and is a f-ing beast! I think a Jiffy is a great buy and, unlike NILS, its made in America, in the midwest even. Can't go wrong there.

Not really a big deal, and i wouldn't mind owning one. I'm just saying i'm happy with the jiffy (even if it does weigh a ton!) and its nice knowing that its made here. I ain't got know problem with finland though. I just get sick of all the Made In China labels, at the "Low Price Leaders"

Yes Jiffy is USA made , there is a plant here in wisconsin just 30 minutes from the house and yes they are on the heavy side. I have a 10" on it now,in anybodys opinion how much wait would it lose if i went to an 8"

Any help on them adj. screws, wich is wich, how many turns etc. would be great. Maybe that would bring the life back in it that it had when new

If you go online to jiffyonice.com you can look at the owners manual for your model. I started with the low speed adj., which was real lean. After fooling with that a little i got her idling like a champ. The problem then was she would stall in the middle of a hole, after driling just a couple. After messing with the other screw (high speed) i have her running so good its unbelievable. I don't know much about mechanics at all, i was just fooling around with things on the ice, but it really seemed to work for me.

If anyone who knows the engine better would chime in, i'd like to hear other opinions too smile !

i have just been using the jiffy oil at the recommended amounts. i have only gone through four or five gallons of fuel since i bought the auger. i have thought about switching it up to amsoil tough, just due to what i've read on here. No hurry though if your auger is still freshie-fresh, but if you get into some amsoil before i do let me know if u can notice much difference.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
