carpmanjake
do i even need a story? other than back in fergus... one last big fishing trip to end the summer. only got a couple during the day... but at night... the ottertail river is coming ever so close to being a trophy smallie fishery, just like the DNR has been trying to make it! carpmanjake
i was told by some people who work at the local baitshop, who i showed the pictures to, that i should get replicas made.. im not sure though. are smallies like that worth getting mounted? just to show the length of them... that would have been a bit over 20". measured when i got home the next day. im just wondering if smallie mounting size is the same as largemouths. 22 or better? Deitz Dittrich
Goldie.. got any measurements on that? It looks all of 20" and 5+ from the pict.. But really hard to tell.. no matter what, give him a high 5 from me.. good fish!!!
Deitz Dittrich
Jake-- any fish that has memory and you have a personal attachment to you is worth getting a replica.. For me, I prefer a pict.. get it blown up/the pict that is.. you then have a memory of what you were wearing your age ect.. As for size.. man, really hard to say.. a 20+ in smallie is a true trophy.. my biggest of my life is 6lbs 4oz, and was 21".. But was in the spring.. it was sooooooooo long ago, my recent biggest has been about 21" but only 5lbs.. But again, a trophy is what you make of it.. I get angry when people dog others trophys.. I have one mounted fish.. One.. its one my dad caught.. and it was his first ever milfoil flipped tonka fish.. I have more memory about that fish as it was the day we figgured that out.. Got the ah-haaaa moment.. the fish is only 5 lbs.. but every bit worth mounting. It has memory. it meant a lot to my dad, meant a lot to me. I have seen awesome 3 lb smallie mounts. Its all up to whom its worth.
