adam schletz
I was wondering if anyone can recommend an ice fishing guide/outfit on Devils lake for perch fishing? We are trying to plan a trip for some late ice perching.
gonehunting
Call Kyle at Woodland Resort. He will treat you right. Travel has been difficult on the lake and they just purchased a new tracked Dodge to get you around without problems.
walleyesforever
Another option would be Jason Mitchell's guide service...he is an excellant guide and as big as Devils Lake is...Jason stay's on top of the bite. Good Luck

RedWingsFan
I can't remember which guide we used but we were up there a few years ago and the guide was nice. Put us right on the fish and we went home happy with buckets of perch.

hmw8066
I went out today with Devils Lake Guide and Outfitters. The outfitters name was Steve Bourcy (sp?). The guide, Travis, was great and checked on me frequently while fishing and gave several pointers on how to catch fish. He, and another guide, fished nearby to try and find fish to get me onto the schools. I definitely learned a lot from Travis. All of them were very good guys and they worked their a$$es off to try and get me on fish.I ended up taking home a limit of walleye and two perch. The perch weren't biting too well for me, but oh well. I will take a limit of walleyes any day. They said that it was kind of a slower day, so I would love to be with them on a good day. First class operation and I will be going back to fish with them ASAP. Have a fun trip.Henry
hmw8066
Oh yeah, I forgot something. You are understating that it is a huge body of water. Just finding places to access the lake and get around would have been extremely difficult without someone showing me the ropes. If you can afford it, I would definitely get a guide. It will be the best money you spend on your trip. Good luck.Henry
hartner62
How much did the guide cost? What were you using for jigs/bait? I will be heading up on the 29th with 5 guys who have never fished the lake so any tips you have would be helpful. How thick was the ice? Thanks. hmw8066
I was all by myself so it was $250. Obviously if you have more people you will split that. The ice was around 3 feet. I caught most of my fish on a green-yellow (and small) jigging rapala. Minnow head on the treble and waxies on the singles. I also had some bites on perch-colored buck-shots. You all should definitely get the guide. Good luck.Henry
mikemadison
What's the limit on Pout on Devils? I can't find it on the HSOforum. Hartner, I agree, you should get the guide service. They will definitely help out a lot. While you are at it, be a pal and buy a Perch Patrols for all your buddies!
