It's hard to get a pic of the inside. There really isn't much to the inside yet. We haven't even insulated it yet. Over the summer we'll spruce it up. Here's a pic with two of us fishing. We each have a rattle reel hanging behind up in opposite holes.

if you dont might me asking how much did you spend on this house i am looking to build my own and just want to find out how much one would cost

We had a few parts on hand like the door, screws, nails, and a few 2x4's. But total with insulation was just under $400.00. Less than the cost of a flip over shack.

are u going spray foam this house or just foam sheets?

I used 3/4 inch foam sheets. We cut them to fit inbetween all the studs and on the ceiling we used full sheets and nailed them to the ceiling joists so no heat escapes up there. I'll try to remember to take some pics of it this weekend. We've been out 3-4 times a week since it's been finished and the insulation did wonders for it. Normally I just use one buddy heater unless it's really cold then we'll run two of them.

how long did it take to build and how do you haul it from lake to lake

It took two weekends to build. If I had more help it could have been done in one weekend. I've kept it on the same lake so far this year because the fishing has been good. If the fish stopped biting I wouldn't even hesitate moving it to a different lake.

your gonna want to spray the bottom with foam or put in sheets, it is very important to knock down the cold coming up from the floor, it will suprise a guy, maybe that why your having trouble with your heat situation. Ive got four inches of foam between my floor thermostat is set on 68 and hardly turns on at all.

I'm thinking I need to redo the floor in my shack. It seemed like all my heat loss came through the openings in the floor. I know I could have banked the snow but I like to move the shack around so there were alot of times I didn't bank the snow and it was cold.

I'm thinking of buying new plywood for the floor and still using six holes but cutting round holes that five gallon pails would fit snuggly into. So essentially I'd be using the pails as sleeves for my holes. I think even without banking the shack this would keep alot more cold air out. Anyone else do this?

JimJim You should just Add a layer of high density foam board then a thin layer of plywood on top of that. Run the seams the oposite dirrecion as your last layer. You wont add much weight and will have a nice insulated floor. Check out the round catch covers at fishhouse supply or many other stores that carry them.

JeffB. If building the floor you describe, do you need to frame in the floor and then cut anf fit the pieces of foam between the frame members? Or are you saying just to cut, fit and glue the foam over the first layer of flooring, and then cover it with the second layer of plywood? Would it make any difference if you used the fishouse to transport 4 wheelers?

Thanks,

Dukhntr

I was saying to put the high density foam on top of the existing floor then add another layer of 7/16 ply wood on top of that. Use adhesive between the layers and a few screw to tighten the sandwich. You could still use this method for a toy hauler. By the doors I would put a wood strip like a 2x2 ripped to the right thickness to cap the exposed foam.

Not sure if you have holes in or not yet but what I found (the hard way) was to find out where you will be sitting and actual hold a rod in your hands and mark where the line goes down. Let that be the center of your holes for the most relaxed and comfortable fishing.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
