Knots for horizontal jigs

Looking for advice on knots that help keep a horizontal jig horizontal without the "resetting" each time I bring a fish in. I've noticed that my horizontal jig doesn't remain horizontal for long with the knots I am tying and wondering if anyone has a better way.

I use a loop knot and it works for me there are a few other knots that work good also.

Before you put the line through the eye, tie an overhand knot in the line and then run the line through the eye. Bring the end back through the overhand knot.

Then make a simple half-hitch around the line and draw it to the overhand knot. Where you draw the half-hitch to the overhand knot will determine where the loop forms.

I use the polamor for pretty much all my fishing. Here's a tip for you. What I do is tie a snap swivel on my line. Then I take two foot sections of Vanish and tie the jig to it. On the other end I tie a surgeons knot. I put them on the lindy holders you can by. That when when I'm on the ice I have twenty or more ready to go so I can change up and back down the whole in no time.

In general if you use two loops through the eyelet and finish of the knot you get more traction on the eyelet and you can maintain a horizontal positioning more easily, works equally well with mono or super braids.

A trick I have used is leave a old knot on the eyelet and push it to the front of the eyelet...now retie a new knot and the two knots will butt-up against each other making it nearly imposable to drop to vertical...or greatly limit it anyway....it often helps considerably.

The knot sliding forward is the deal, by blocking it's forward movement with another knot..it has nowhere to go and is forced to stay mid-eye and more horizontal in it's orientation.

As with most, if not all discoveries of mine, I discovered this out of pure laziness..in this case too lazy to remove an old knot..and I accidentally figured it out that it helps to keep horizontal presentations level.

Who says lazy never pays off...Eh?

Hope this helps ya out.

Oddly enough i've never thought of doing this for something other than a lindy. Think i'm going to give set up some jigs this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

I use Quick Snaps, and small swivel snaps.. Can change jiggin' lures at will and the horizontal is not affected.. A good trilene knot twice through the eyelet.. All set.. Just speaking for myself, I rarely tie jiggin' spoons, lures directly to the line.. I feel the lure has more free movement when you are jiggin' in certain siches.. Plus on harder hook sets I feel the free movement helps, less stress directly on knot, tied to lure eyelet..
