Eskimo Quick fish 3 HELP

CadCruzer

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I need HELP. I have a green QF3 that I bought 2 years ago. THe problem I am having is the set up. I can get the top to pop up but the sides are next to impossible to get to pop out, seems like they are binding. Is their a certain order that they are supposed to be set up in. I do evetually get it but by then it's 45-60mn later and the fun meter on fishing is running low. Any suggestions

Ours takes a rather quick jerk instead of a slow steady pull. If 2 people are setting it up, we pull on opposit sides at the same time.

I totally agree! Mine is the same way. A quick pop instead of a steady pull gets the sides out pretty good. At times if there is a breeze, I will put an ice anchor in the ice and use a short rope or string to tie to one of the eyes on the sides and then go pull on the opposite side. It will pop and you will have two sides opposite open at that point.

I also noticed mine getting tighter at the "hubs" at the center of each wall and since the poles basically hinge there, I shot a bit of WD-40 in there and that helped quite a bit too and it did not bind as much.

yea a quick pull works, i am having a small issue taking it down tho, when i pop in the last side it pops out the other side, i toy around for a couple minutes and i seem to figure it out, but it is a little frusterating. mine just started doing this, any reasons?

I like to push all the sides in then do the lop last seems to work good that way.

I would lay it out and put your ice anchors in. Then use bungi cords instead of cords that come with it. Pop up quick and have it ready to anchor. Don't know from experience just what I would do after helping a buddy with his.

using one or more anchors is sure a trick. WHen I set it up in my dining room (to let it dry out after the day) It takes me longer, I find myself chasing sides.

I have also found yo uneed to make sure all the panels are kind of flipped to the right spot. if yo ugo pulling on a panel and things are twisted up it wont work.

Im sure a shot of lube on all the hinge points would help you if this is a new occurance.

I think you're on to something metrojoe. When I was shopping for the QF3, the guy at the store was pretty confident with setting up the house and went through it with me. But he stressed the need to have the door open and facing into the wind. That way it catches the wind acts like a parachute and pops open much easier. Don't forget to stake the corner near the door first!! I don't have one yet, so this is second hand info.

That's great info there. I could see having the door open but didn't think of facing into the wind. That would be a huge help I would think.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
