Strike Lite or Lazer Mag Express

ya my problem is probably related to the 3 blades, Im sure if it had 1 or 2 blades it would be a good auger, did they recall these 3 blade models? How do the 1 or 2 blade augers work, maybe I need to get on the phone with strikemaster and see if they would swap the auger out, as for the Motor, its ran flawlessly for several seasons, only had to change 1 sparkplug very light, quiet does seem to get oil buildup in various areas on the crankcase, gearbox, but i just spray it down with engine degreaser from time to time, I'm not real fond of the narrow handles vs jiffys big wide handeles you dont get alot of leverage over the unit, it can throw ya for a spin sometimes. The narrow handles are great inside a permanent to get into tight corners however. Anybody with the 3 blade issues i'd appreciate some advice, im sick of buying blades, and the blades freeze up constantly.

You can get them from strikemaster but they're spendy. I've heard they sometimes have good deals at the end of the winter.

Both augers are good. Only you can decide whether it's worth the extra $. The strikelite is lighter, quieter, less fumes, easy to start, more fuel efficient, smooth running, no carrying a can of mixed gas, top off at the gas station, no oily mess on the outside of the exhuast, self venting gas cap that doesn't leak, also cut holes nicely,... knock on wood...

You're welcome to try mine. I want to punch a bunch of holes on a lake X by me and figure some structure. Let me know. I could post my email.

I love the engine of my strikelite. But I had the same issue of it freezing up on me, I've been told to spray it with Pam and the like, but that would just be a hassle. So I got the Metal bit for it with Chipper blades smile Now it doesn't freeze up. Of course nowhere near as light as before, but I really only cared about the 4 stroke feature anyways.

I had the same issues with the Strike Light and went to the Strikemaster factory to complain. They sold me the metal one at a reasonable cost to replace my plastic one. It only weighed 2 pounds more so not that big of a deal. Plus you get the 4 stroke feature with the metal shaft and no issues with freeze up, broken plastic, etc. Great Auger now.

I have had the auger wedged between the floor of a wheelhouse and the ice and had to use a pipe wrench to get it free, and never cracked it at all, what is happening to all of your augers that you would put the metal auger on?

Mine starts and runs way better then my 2 stroke Jiffy ever did, prime it till the return hose has no more air bubbles going through it, put the chock on and it will start in 2-5 pulls, after 10-15 seconds put chock off all the way and it will idle by itself, that is in 15 below weather with the auger out in the open in the back of the pickup for 120 miles, It is a nice running little engine.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
