Gordie
my dad used to hang a rattel reel off the side of a bucket he used a piece of nine wire and made a S-hook and it worked fine.

Will
i attatched a clamp to a rattle type reel and i hook it to one of the poles over the hole------------cheap and effective!
Chode2235
they make those great rod holders, and rattle reels that connect right to the porty poles. I have the rod holder and it works great. I have also see one that is just a rattle reel. jerkbait
I did the same thing that Will did. Used some cheap spring clamps, attached it to the rattle reel and clamp to a cross pole over the hole. Works great.

JP Z
AS Chode shows the Portable deadstick from Catch Cover is good, or there is also a Portable rattle reel. I believe retails around $20-
