so haaad
Today is May 1st. Anybody get out bowfishing/spearing on the opener? This used to be one of my annual rituals when I was younger.
DEADhead
I assume you are referring to the spear-chuckers and bow-anglers? I haven't been out with the flyrod since the 23rd, but hopefully that will change this weekend. I suppose now I'll have to fight the bowfisherman for one of my spots... I guess I better get there early

DEADhead
Ryan, I typically see a few guys out everytime I'm down at one of my spots in the spring. Seems by opener time, many of them are off doing other things though. I'm sure there are plenty of bowfisherman around here, but I suspect they target the lakes more. The rivers are pretty much under-utilized here in "lakes country".Nevertheless, it's hard to fish a spot after the bowfishers have been through there. The fish become too spooky and don't come back to those spots until late in the summer/fall.

TonkaBass
We got 45 suckers, but we could have had a lot more. We smoke them and can them, and they turn out pretty good!
