mountaindew
Here's what I have...had to dig deep in the hard drive to find some more. I need to get out and shoot some more BIF pics! All were taken with 100-400mm except for the eagle shot was taken with the 400mm f2.8 hand held...it's the only shot of a BIF with those lens. Need to get out and practice some more! Great job everyone!

LeeKen
Not sure, was it birds in fight or birds in flight? A litttle different take on movement.
Steve Foss
Great blur motion in the heron, LeeKen. I love that watercolor/impressionistic look!
fishinJohn
Thanks for posting these! Clearly separating from the pack with these shots.

Steve Foss
No wonder the sharpies are on the decline there.

MN Shutterbug
Acouple smaller bif shots. Kestrels sure do not like to cooperate. I'd see one on a wire, pull over and get out and aim and he'd take off and I'd shoot. He'd land about 50 yards down the line and we'd do it all over again. He just wouldn't let me get that close. One of these times................ The blackbird was shot at F8 and 1/750 sec. and the kestrel at 1/1000 sec., both at ISO 400. I should have opened up a half a stop or increased the ISO to 640. For some reason this morning, I didn't even think about checking the shutter speed. I must have been dog tired. I'm working my way towards the nuthatch bif. mmeyer
Those are great Mike. I like the little blur in the wings. It gives it a feeling of motion. Nice work!!
MN Shutterbug
Thanks, Mike. Here's another attempt.
mmeyer
That second one looks like he's sitting in mid air! That's awesome.
Steve Foss
Nice ones, XT. Kestrels are a tough proposition. Being so small for a raptor, one has to of course get closer than to the bigger ones, and wild kestrels rarely make that easy. Good work to get this one. MN Shutterbug
This thread sure got buried quickly. I figured if this ugly buzzard didn't crack Finnbay's lens, then mine should be safe. I was driving thru the park and spotted a couple turkeys walking thru the trees. I stopped and got out, and all of a sudden this one comes flying across the road. Considering that it was a narrow state park road, I had time for one quick grab shot. It's not a keeper, but at least it's a new BIF. And here is kind of an accidental BIF of a yellow headed blackbird. He took off as I was taking the shot.
mmeyer
Sweet stuff Mike! Is that another first for you on the vulture?
MN Shutterbug
Thanks, Mike. Yes, also a first on the vulture. Considering how repulsive it looks, it'll probably be the last too.
Steve Foss
Here are a couple BIFs from yesterday. The first is a raven, the second a broad-winged hawk looking up at its partner and calling while it flies.
MN Shutterbug
Magnifico. I especially like the detail and sharpness in the raven and the way it appears suspended in mid air. I do like the expression on the face of the hawk.
Steve Foss
Thanks, Mike. I wish I'd have been closer to the hawk. That look and scream would have been priceless in a tight shot, but I already cropped away about 40 percent to get this comp.
