Guide Series rain gear

Fish&Fowl

Question

Does anyone have experience with the Gander Mountain's TecH2O rain gear? I am looking at getting some bibs for summer fishing, they seem like good quality and the price is right...I usually don't buy anything but Gore-Tex or Omni-Tech but if I get some good reviews I might pick up a pair.

I have a few sets that I picked up on clearance. They work fine but arent as good as my Gortex. If your not in a all day soaking the h2otech is fine. If your running a tourney in a solid rain I would stay Gortex. I just purchased a Lund Gortex Suit. Now all my H2O stuff will be in next years Swap Meet.

For the price I feel its a good quality product. For the average fisherman I think its fine.

I have a set of the bibs that I use as a fish house pant in the winter as well as in the summer. I like them alot. I can not remember the size (also 5'8) they are a little long, but not bad. I would recomend them for someone looking for a decent pair of bibs.

I do not have any experience with the uppers.

Cabela's guidewear comes in "short". I am 5'6 and the bibs are only a little long. That was xtra large, when I was fat. Going to go look as some smaller ones this spring sometime.

I'll keep you in mind. Nothing like a little open heart surgery to motivate a guy. I just look at that scar down the middle of my chest.... Maybe I don't want that bacon cheeseburger pizza after all... :-)

Gore Tex Guide wear is the only way to go. It is more expensive but will outlast anything else out there.

I have been out in the all day rains and got soaked in the cheaper raingear but not in my guidewear, I am as dry as if I was sitting on shore in the cabin.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably end up going with Gore-Tex for a few more bucks and not worry about it.

Also FYI, Columbia's Omni-Tech is a great product. I have the quad parka and bibs for duck/goose hunting and that stuff is unreal...equal to if not better than Gore-Tex. I just wish they made better fishing rain gear.
