New TV

Scoot

Question

I'm going to put in a flatscreen TV in my basement. The area I'm going to put it in is just over 13' from the wall you'll be sitting against (on a couch) to the wall the TV will be on. I want a good sized TV for the wall, but not so huge it overpowers the room either. What's about the right size TV for this size opening?

Obviously no right answer here- just wondering what people's thoughts are.

Talked to a guy who sells them. He said 15' away for a 42". Another thing is when you go to get one you could try stepping back 13' and the stepping back farther if you can for aa change in the picture not everyone is the same.

Um... yeah. That's why I have to finish it. Spending my time on the concrete floors and looking at bare walls down there is getting boring!

No, this one is pretty much for me. The daughter watches TV in the basement and my wifes office is in the basement so I usually get the upstairs living room to myself.

We did a pretty fair amount of looking at TVs before we purchased this one and all I can say is look at the wall of tvs and figure out what want to spend, then pick the tv. To us we found that not all tv's of the same manufacturer look clear, but the same model from store to store did. Ours is a closeout 780p model.

And if you want the best, go for 1080. As a former employee of the above retail store mentioned, and working at the electronics counter, make sure when you are shopping around that the TV's are not all split off of one or two sources. If they are all split up, it will make one look good and the others blurry because the cables can't split a crystal clear picture that many ways. Big things to look for are color (tints) between the differences and definitely ask or check to see if the main source is split.

Also check the return policies of the stores. They seem to vary considerably, and it could make a difference if you get it home and wish it were bigger or smaller or it doesn't look right.
