gonefishin11
I will be at the game and on my feet cheering for Torii. I will also be cheering when Carlos Gomez turns a walk into a triple... Have any of you watched him in Spring Training yet? He is raw but definetly has alot of potential and wow can he run.

"Ok but would you leave you current employment if you said you wanted a raise, they offered you more money then anyone in the company right now is making. Right in the top few ranks Nation wide in your position. And that they taught and made you what you are today. Or would you take the other offer from some other company that offered you about a 9% higher offer? Then if you took the higher offer, what do you think your current employers and fellow workers would think? Do you think they would just say, ya he was really good, and we will apploud him the next time he is in town. Or do you think they will say what a greedy jer-k? You either love him if he's on your team, or you hate him. Remember when he tried to spike Morneau? I know there are MANY more instances of dirty play that I cannot think of off hand here. Gary Crichton
How many millions does a person need. Also how many players play for the same team for there entire career. That would be a great feat in itself. I think Johan misses us already.Question If Tori hits a dinger, would you throw the ball back on to the field or keep it. jigging-matt
Wouldn't you want to be there when the new stadium opened after all that you have done and been thru with the team. He probably would have taken less money if he could have gotten another year on his contract. Torii should have been under contract when the new stadium opens, not pending another deal. tisosy11
Torii did not take the BIGGEST contract...he took the longest contract. The twins were not willing to give him 5 years i thought...and thats why he went to anaheim...
Coach1310
I hope Tori isn't booed. He played his guts out for us while he was here. I hear all this loyalty stuff, how about the Twins being loyal to Tori by looking like they are trying to build a winner now, not just getting by and hoping it works out on the cheap. If Tori's contract was expiring and they Twins had a better option for centerfield would they be LOYAL to him or do what is best for the club. Until a team shows their loyalty by giving a player at the end of their career a 3 or 4 year contract just to keep them around, I have no problem with players leaving for more $$$ or more years or whatever. The teams are in it for their best interest and so are the players. To think either will do anything else is crazy!
fishin58
I am with gary c, How much money does a guy really need?? I don't think too many guys on fish chat are millionaires...He already had more money then he knew what to do with. He should have stayed for the contract we offered. Then learn to hit a ball when we needed him to.
fishin58
coach how about Shaq,he gave up a ton of money the year the Won it...just so he could get the players he wanted... some guys are willing to take a paycut if it leads to winning more games. Especially someone like Hunter, who relies on his speed to get around in CF. We offered him the money. I thought our offer was decent. Putting up that same kind of money for 2 extra years is a huge risk. If Torii could still play to his best ability after his three year contract would have been up, the Twins could have looked at signing him again. zamboni
Mike I agree with you. His injuries have been on the rise the last couple years as well.
Maximum12
Personally, I wouldn't have given Torii a 5 year contract either, but that doesn't diminish what he gave to the franchise over the past decade. I sure hope Torii doesn't get booed. It would display a shocking lack of class and intellect. I think Twins fans are better than that. Santana, on the other hand... Gary Crichton
A 3 year contract is perfect. He is getting older and may not hold up for 5 years. If he is still going strong after 3 he could sign again. As you get older, things start going down hill. My question still has no answer. "If you caught a homerun of Torii's would you throw it back or keep it."
Eric Wettschreck
Throw it back, and I'm a dude who still likes Torri. He plays for the other team now, tho.

Maximum12
I never understood throwing home run balls back. Give it to a kid if you don't want it!
Gary Crichton
I never understood that either Maximum. The damage is done and throwing it back makes no difference. The only people that applaud and yell YA that you did throw it back, are the people who didn't catch it. I wonder how many people regret throwing it after they did, and the only reason they did in the first place is the pressure received from around him or her. The ball they catch is from someone who doesn't play here often, so why throw it back, save it and give it to a kid after the game, as the kid would receive the same pressure you did. tisosy11
Part of the experience...I didn't even think about it.Caught it on a one hop off the concrete. Then rifled it into Bartlett at short!Byleven goes, "Now, theres one unhappy twins fan!"Twins one the game in 10 innings and I was about 3 inches from getting another ball on a Morneau shot that just missed bouncing over the fence!Instant classic!
