Rebel:

What did you end up getting? It is pretty cool, but now your urge to get on the water is going to really drive you crazy!!! If it is nice out today, I might open the garage and stare at the ol Lund for a few hours!!!

Bret... I made a posting about this boat about a month ago... Heres the link, it'll explain the whole situation... Its a 1988 Bass Tracker 1800TF with 150 HP Mercury... http://www.fishingminnesota.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1273526#Post1273526

Keith... thats for sure...

Delmuts yepper but it will take a while... Im thinking about a good trolling motor to start off, then invest in a very good sonar/GPS system... but gotta make sure the boat is 100% operational...

yeah i thought that was you. the reason i asked is there is a service buliten on some vehicals about switching over to LED's on trailers. apparently on some there is a surge back to the electronic flashers that blow out bulbs really fast. i know dodge trucks have the problem because a mechanic friend of mine at work was blowing his bulbs out and he did some checking on some HSOforum they have at work they pay for, and found out about it. he checked on my yukon and did'nt find one (i've been going to do it for two years, lol) but that just could mean it's not an issue ''yet''. gonna check with GM sometime this week. anyway ask your local dealer about your make vehical. the problem is these flashers don't have the resistors to compensate for the surge, so if thats the case then it needs to be changed to a flasher that does. his works fine now that he changed it, he said. good luck on the new boat.

well, i aint no expert on it but my take on it was, please confirm this, was it's the electronic flasher for the vehical. some have the resistor but not on his truck which is about a '04 1 ton duely. it's the flasher itself that needs to be changed out. he got his OEM and was'nt sure if there was after market flashers with the resistor or not. best bet is just ask a dodge service department. at least you can go in acting like you know a little bit whats up. good luck... on a side note i was held up by a waterheater dissaster so i have'nt finished that pink marabou yet.... (it's in the Bucktails thread)... need to still put epoxy over the wraps and then wait. then i can put it together. grin.gif

Larry -

Congrats on the new rig. You'll have a lot of fun playing with it and readying it for the season. Like I said in another post, my brother and I have gutted and re-worked a couple boats so we may be able to help a tad if you need it.

Good luck - erik

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
