fishing is slow this morning at the classic. Reading the reports on bassmaster, seems that the top guys dont have fish yet, and the lower bracket guys are getting fish. Very early, see what happens in the afternoon.

yea the bite did pick up for few guys in the afternoon yesterday, its gonna be interesting.

ESPN really made good on their promise to really promote BASS - final day of the event and they don't even televise it until 4-6 hours after the event is over and everyone has gone home! Why wouldn't they show the second half of the day and the weigh-in live? There are, after all, about 100 ESPN channels - surely they could have found one to show it on.

Tired of their empty promises. (OK, spleen feels better now whereever it is).

thats a good question. Its not on tonight till 8 or 9 i believe. You can watch everything at bassmaster.com and watch the weight in if you want there. Just no fishing during the day, just the weight in.

yea, I need to be up at 3am so I am not staying up to watch tv coverage from 9 to 11. It wasnt like that last year was it? I will just watch the weigh in live on the net. If they dont cancell the race today they said they will move the coverage to ESPN classic.

Daze Off, I think getting it edited and the sponsor packages in by 8pm eastern standard, when the tourny ends at what 3pm is really good, that's five hours to program a 2 hour slot. I can live with that.

I know,but think of the cost of a live broadcast. You would need a dish in every boat. And I don't think Bass would want a live broadcast without some type of delay. I'm guessing there are alot of less than family orientated utterances that we never hear because of editing.

If they can edit basketball games and the like on the fly, this shouldn't be that hard. I'm with Daze, until they do it live, they won't get a huge TV audience they really want. They put a track and field meet on regular ESPN, but won't put the Classic on. I know I can't go to sleep w/o knowing the pole vault results!!

Here is where it is at IMO. ESPN knows that us fishing junkies will stay up until 9 tonight and watch till 11. The sponsors are happy, because we are the target audience, ESPN is happy because: A) that is an empty time slot, it is a cheaper cost for them to tape/edit vs. a live situation. The live Pitt classic will never happen again, unless a miracle happens and bass fishing is as popular in every home as Football, Basketball, etc. I think the only chance we see a live setup again is for it to go back to summer where daytime TV coverage is only up against ladies golf and the world's strongest man competition.
