FOBs

Anyone heard of these things? FOB stands for Fletching Only Better?

even more important has anyone used them and what do you think of them?

I am really considering these things, although they remind me of those toys that fly off like a helicopter blade. All the info I have seen seems like very positive but thought no better place then fishingmn.com to find out some true feedback!

Supposedly they are quite loud if you are stading behind them.. But they have recorded shots from the target and they sound no different than afletched arrow.. I still have not shot mine yet.

I will say this.. I dont think they are neat looking. I think a well fletched arrow is pretty. That said, it took me all of....... 5 seconds to flech an arrow with a FOB. That is an advantage for sure.

DD,

Make sure you check to be sure you have room between the FOB and the cables. That's where I got into trouble. I was told that if I got a different cable slide (can't remember which one was recommended), that I'd have enough room. I sort of lost interest at that point because I didn't want to try fix what wasn't broken.

Anyway... make sure there's room with the little test FOB in the packet, or you'll have big problems.

Well, I spent a little time at Gander MTN in F.L. yesterday.. had a bunch of work done on 3 of my bows... My hunting bow I put an STS system on it(wow, huge improvement) I set my new target bow up... WOW, awesome shooting bow)... But while my target bow was getting set up I tried a FOB...

Took me all of 3 secconds to fletch at arrow with it.. LOL, and I checked to make sure I had clearance, no prob there.. so I let one fly...I have to admit I was impressed, there were quite a few people shooting and they all stoped to watch the arrow... I pulled it and went out of my way to torque my grip to get the arrow to kick bad out of the bow... the FOB definatly corrected the arrow flight quciker than feathers or vanes. There was more noticable noise coming from it, butt their web site states that is only from the rear... not sure what to think of that...

So, all in all, I will give them more of a shot. However, I cant get over how ugly they are.

I went out shooting this weekend and shot the FOBs a few times. They seemed to work OK, at 50yds they were very comparable to blazers as for accuracy. They do make a lot of noise as Deitz said, especially shooting long distances. It was not windy at all, so did not get to shoot them with a cross wind, which is what they are suppose to be good at.

The biggest problem I have with them is you can't group arrows, they will break if you hit them with another arrow.

On the positive side it is fast and easy to fletch an arrow with them, and everyone watching comes up and asks what is that.

I have to admit, that was a turn off for me too. I suppose a guy would get used to them eventually. However, I thought they sort of made my arrow not look like an arrow anymore, and I didn't like that. I agree with your previous comment, DD, a nicely fletched up arrow is eye appealing. With the FOB on there it had a little bit of a "new fandagled" look to it for me to dig it.

They do offer "stickers" To dress them up a bit....

I think they would grow on you after a little while?

I need to get my new bow set up still and with hockey over for 1 out of 2 kids I may be able to get that done now.... FOBs are still in the running but they are in 2nd and still gaining.... I like to try new things.

I have seen the stickers.. and I may do something with the arrow shaft... I know for hutning I will use some sort of crest or sticker on the arrow so I can find it again once the FOB has fallen off.. I havn't yet begun to decide if I will hunt with the FOB yet. I will definatly try them once it warms up and I have a chance to shoot some broadheads with them.
