Can I make a recommendation guys and galls?

Ever year some folks like to rip-off other folks hard earned ice fishing gear. Try not to make it too easy for them to do so. But if they do, make it easier on you to get your valuable things back.

Since many of you have taken the time to inventory your gear it would be wise to also print the inventory and take a picture or two for insurance purposes.

Many insurance companies/policies will not cover loss by theft/loss without a very good record of what was lost and pictures of the items.

Take the time now to record this information. I know from experience it will help latter on if some thief grabs your goods.

Food for thought before the ice season hits and loss may become an issue.

It also helps to take the time to mark your goods. Use a permanent marker or engrave large ticket items, such as electronics or a power auger. Make it as hard on thieves as possible to get your goods.

Hope this helps folks.

Very good advice Ed! (It also reminds me to do the ice fishing stuff!) Also protect those photos and don't lose them. Safe deposit boxes at your local bank is a good place to keep all photos/inventories.

Oh, the stuff....
'00 Honda Foreman totally rigged for icin'
Arctic Cat ZL440 and EXT 580
Otter Magnum sled with hitch, with lodge skin soon
Hondex FL-8 (soon to be replaced w/ Marcum LX-3)
Vista Cam
Lazer 8" auger
Buddy heater and sunflower

I just need some of those Glow Devils to seal the deal on tackle supply!!!

Well I have an ice house that is 8' x 22' and is completely portable! Just hook up and go. I designed it with 3 things in mind: Able to move easily with one person, everyone faces each other when fishing, not into the corner, and very low to the ice. I have achieved all 3 and showed it off to Windsor Canadien Whiskey for the annual competion for the best ice house, and took 2nd place the year I entered! Oh, it has everything from home like TV/VCR and all the gagets! And last but not least, I use an electric Jiffy ice auger so the place doesnt stink like gas fumes while we sleep and eat! LOW all winter.

Well here it is and this is not a Fantacy set up, just ask the Voyagers Ranger who saw it last year on Kabe.
My dad and I built an 8' by 16' by 8'tall portable fish house that sleeps 6 and has 4 holes. It is heated by a round lazer heater (with exaust pipe). We took 1/4 in plywood wraped them with 1x4 pine and put 1" foil wrapped styrofoam between the 1x4. We cut out a few holes and put plex glass over them for windows. For the floor we used 1/2" on the top and bottom with the foam in between. We found some 1" wide by 4' long shelf brackets that we mounted on the floor and celing pannels with glue and screws for mounting the wall pannels. We then had some L shapped angle Irons bent to 1" x 3" out of some heavy guaged sheet metal, and mounted them to the sides of the pannels. We ran holes through the angle irons and run a 1/4" bolt through and secure it with a wing nut. This is how we secure the roof and walls all together as well. We labled all the pannels so each pannel gets installed in the correct position. We set the floor down first on top of 3 runs of 4x4 treated posts to keep it off the ice and make it a bit easeir for shimming it. We also took a plastic tarp and put some snaps on it for a water proof roof.
Now the inside is what is the most impressive. We had 6 2'x6' alumm. frames welded up and wove chair webbing on them for the beds. We added some removable shelves for storage and cooking. We do not rough it a bit. We have a small generator with to power the entertainment if the fishing is slow (tv vcr combo) we set a few halogen lights on the roof so we can see the tip ups. We had a 10'x4' alumm sled made to haul the house down to the lake (two trips) behind a sled or ATV.
Last year was easy because we drove out on the lake. But the trip we really built it for is the tough one. We go to South Fowl lake on the Pigon River between Grand Maris and Grand Portage. We cannot get there by truck so we have to portage about 5 mi. The last time was worth the effort the walleyes were definattly biting the seven of us came home with 36 from the 4 day trip. It takes about 2 hours to set up but it is worth it. For those of you wondering how warm it stays in there, the pilot light keeps it about 65 all night. We use a 8x6 canvas portable with a sunflower heater for storage and a biffy.
I have a few pics if I could figure out how to post them. We are planning a trip to the foul this winter, hope the bite is as good this time as it was the last.

Good Fishing!!
Shorthair Guy
