Pak Shack

True, there isn't much room for putting a ton of stuff in there, but the point of a pak-shak as I see it is being mobile. I have a Fish Trap Guide, and my buddy has the pak-shak. If I am going out for a day alone, I use his pak-shak as it is far lighter and easier to get around, and even quicker to set up than a flip-over tub style house. They are also great for sight fishing, the black material makes it incredibly easy to see whats down the hole. Generally when I am in the pak-shak, I have one hole, with the vex out front as far as possible, my jiggin stick, and usually two rods sitting on the back of the genz tote for the vex ready to go if I need to switch quick. If it is warmer than 10 degrees, I wont even need a heater in there. Before next ice season hits, I plan to pick one up just to make it easier to get out there early on the thin stuff.

HI I HAD ONE FOR A WEEK GREAT CONCEPT THATS WERE IT ENDS. FIRST DAY OUT THE SCREWS FELL OUT. 2ND DAY TARP FROZE TO THE ICE RIPED WHEN I TRIED TO GET IT OUT. 5TH DAY THE CHAIRS BUSTED. 7TH DAY WIND TOOK IT RIPPED IN HALF. BOUGHT 2 FISH TRAPS ONE FOR ME ONE FOR MY SWEETIE. NOW WE LOVE FISHING. SORRY I WAS SO NEGATIVE BUT HARD TO ENJOY SOMETHING THAT FALLS APART THAT QUICK.

Some positives: It's great for me when I'm up north and I'm walking in on some lakes that are 3/4 of a mile - 1 mile through the woods. It's nice and light and takes up no room. Don't have to pack an extra chair and like another said, I don't need a heater...unless it's below zero. Then I run my coleman lantern and that's plenty.

Some negatives: It does seem kind of flimsy, even though I've not had a problem with mine yet. I do kind of baby it, though, because it is so lightweight. Don't stand up when the wind is howling because it'll tumble over...again because it's so lightweight. You're only fishing one hole because of the room. I always run a tip-up out in front of mine while I'm jigging inside the Pak-Shak.

I picked up the Pak-Shak 3 this winter and like it a lot. Although I haven't used it much, it has plenty of room inside, and the chair is a little lower to the ice than the single, so it's more comfortable. It does seem a little flimsy, I fasten two bungee cords around it when it's back in the back to keep it as narrow as when you buy it, and it's easier to carry. A buddy of mine recommended a ratchet strap, that may work too. Over all for the price I'd say it's worth it, and if you have small car like I do, it fits in the trunk fine. Or you could invest in an Arctic Armour suit like I did and just sit on a bucket all winter.

I used mine plenty this year and it has held up fine. I can see where it might break with a person of ::ahem:: larger mass sitting on it. You can only fish one hole, but when we are punching a ton of holes and chasing the schools it works great. Plus the chair is much more comfortable than the seats in Polarsusd81's Fish Trap.

I use mine all the time and I love it...It's not meant for storage it keeps you comfortable out of the wind and mobile...I use my vex and coleman sportcat (on cold days)..Plenty of room to fish one hole and stay warm yet move in a sec..I'm 6'4" 280 and theres not a problem

I am on my second winter with mine (about 20 or so trips out). I like it, especially when I go out by myself. It is not the sturdiest fish house out there but mine has held up OK. I am not the lightest person out there at about 230 lbs. and the chair holds me fine. I find that there is just enough room for everything if you set it up right. I can fit my vex, heater, minnow bucket and rod holder in it if I set everything up right. I use a buddy heater in mine because the back of the heater stays cool so you can place the back of the heater against the wall, although you don't need a heater except on the coldest days because body heat is usually enough to heat it up.

i was thinking about picking one up this weekend. gander had the singles for $60 and the 3-persons for $100. seemed like an ok deal, especially if you have an otter sled or the like, and you cant pull a sled and suitcase out by yourself like me.

I picked up one of these yesterday at Gander Mountain in EP. It was only 29.99. Though they took the signs down while I was there. Said the price was wrong, should have been 49.99. They had them priced that way for a day and they were flying off the shelves.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
