I've tinkered with and wondering how you've done with bigger plastic twitch baits such as the baits that DeLong, Bucher put out or with bodies from Lunker City like the Fin-S minnow. They certaily look great in the water, I haven't fished them enough to give a report. Not lures to cover water with, but just lookin for overall experiences. Thanks, later.

I maybe threw the Killer' Eel twice last year, but I had one of the biggest fish ive ever seen follow it. It was a real lazy follow but i almost had a heart attack when i seen her coming behind. Im thinking about trying it as a throw back lure next year. Anyone else have any experience with them???

I have seen some of the biggest fish of my life on killer eels, haven't connected yet. When times got tough last summer, I threw my modified flying witch (extra trebles) and caught some really nice fish. I personally find these baits to excel early in the season and when fish are pressured.

I don't have any experience with other plastics other than shack attack and dawgs

just my two cents

I throw plastics the majority of the time and would say 80% of the casting fish i have caugth came on killer eels. Like Dan said they are great early season and in shallow water. Before the big Cowgirl phase Gregg Thomas catch LOTS of fish on the north end of Mil Lacs with them. Tiger Tubes are also a very versital bait. I have friend who goes to LOW every summer and for the last four years all he has fished are Tiger Tubes (White Pepper and Chart) and out fished the rest of his group on average 3 to 1. the trick with the tiger tube is to fish it just like a glider, but you don't want to figure 8 follows, rather drop the bait to the bottom and count to three then wrench it as hard as you can, the majority of the time the fish reactions it as soon as it leaves the bottom, if you don't get it the first time drop it again and repeat. Very Interesting, thanks for the tip!

MuskyBug or others - what are you using for a leader with the eels? Also, have you had better luck with a slower, steady retreive or a fast, erratic one? Finally, are you attempting to break the surface lots, occasionally, or never?

I use about 6' 100# floro tied with a uni/overhand knot with a heavy black sampo for swivel. I really like to mix it up, let it sink then rip it up through the weeds till it reaches the surface then let it sink again and repeat. long sweeps of the rod will give the bait lots of lift and plenty of action. In shallow water I sight fish with them and let the fish tell me what they want.

I had some success last year tossing magnum toads. After initially losing a couple of fish that hit hard on the toad with the large #12? hook that comes with it I threaded about 1' of sevenstrand thru the toad along with a 5/0 treble between it's legs and big worm hook thru its body. This worked well.
