Not really moot. It is not the size of the screen or visability that I have any sort of issue with, it is the size/weight of the dual-use package that I would prefer to have separated. My style of fishing includes a fair amount of walking/driving around. To check my position, I need to either have the unit with me while I'm driving or carry it while walking, both of which could are cumbersome and somewhat inconveniently. To have just a 12 ounce GPS unit in my pocket to refer to would be much more convenient.

The dual-use outfit works just fine in a boat as the means of transportation is the same as the location of fishing. Ice fishing is a different scenario. My means of transportation (legs, ATV, Car) are separate from the fishing location (bucket, sled, portable). The point is my arm is getting sore from hoisting the M68c up to view my position.

thanks for all the input on this units sounds like they are very well like but kind of tough to get use to. I guess it will be just like any of them just take time to get the hang of it, never fished with any brand of flasher. I bought a camera and just not happy with it so i would like to try a flasher. I take it i was not supposed to use a brand name that doesn't sponsor the site and i do understand thats who pays for this great and very informative site but i have heared plenty of other brand names on here so i didn't think it would matter. thanks again for all the great info you have made my mind up.

I upgraded my boat unit from a 337 to a 25c, so now the 337 is an ice fishing rig, so far I like using it and can use it right next to my vex with very little interference. My question is I only gey about 5 to 6 hours use on a 7 Ah battery, is there any way to increase the battery life? like disconnecting the GPS antenna when I get on a spot? or should I get a bigger battery? Any ideas?

By the way I was seeing walleyes on my lowrance on the bottom when the vex was just showing bottom. So I will continue to use the 337 rig I put together.

To get longer battery life on your unit look at purchasing a 9ah battery. This will add a hour or two to your battery life. Using the bigger units is tuff on the batteries. Another option is to have a spare or two so when you need a new battery you can just hook them up. Also, to reduce battery draw, lower the backlight level. Only do this when your in a house but it will help lower the energy requiered.

I have the X67C and love it. Once we get something for our boat this summer I'm gonna make a conversion for that and use it on the ice as well so I can have the GPS/chip combo.

No riverrat you can name names....Read Red Hansons post eh, he's got all kinds of names on there!

Sorry you had to watch a bad element pollute the topic you brought up man.

You know if you don't have much for experience with sonar you might just be better off wetting your feet with a Marc or Vex unit as they are alot easier to use and both of those brands work darn good too.

I will then:

I really like the combined GPS/Lakemaster chip with the sonar. It works wonderfully well together. When I get on the ice, I turn on the unit and put in in the chair of my sled. I mark where I want to go, and the unit draws a nice line to get me there.

I think it works really great together. I don't think it would be useful though without the lakemaster chip. It is so much easier to go out on the lake and drill a couple holes looking for that spot, than to try to line up the water tower and that house, then drilling tons of holes to eventually find that structure.

As a side note, I do find this forum to be the most restrictive regarding posting of links. I think over time the admins will discover that links make the community richer and the discussions much better. I think we all get a little too much group think. But as Bob Dylan once said, "The masters make the rules, for the wise men and the fools."

Not a problem RR, just wanted to set the record straight.

For what its worth I used Koden and Interphase Video sounders on the ice for many years. I did so up until Vex came along and got popular. I reluctantly had to switch to a flasher because the interference knocked my sounders out. In that time I went from Vex to MarCum. I now prefer the flasher on the ice. Come open water the flashers are put away and the Eagle and Lowrance come off the shelf and back in the boat.

I have used flashers and graphs and now use a Lowrance 102C for icefishing. It took a few trips to get it down, but the extra info for history and lack of noise have convinced me. The only situation I would use a graph is if I was heading out for a few days and had no way to charge my batteries.

This is my first year running an x67c and I love it. It will run well with a markum in the same house, but vexlars mess it up. I do run it more in graph mode than flasher mode, but both are great, especialy the zoom. And it will run on one charge for almost an entire season.

just from reading this forum had got me curious. I was thinking about getting a camera or another vex or gps. But now that I have looked closely at the lowrance models that x67c sounds like I can kill two birds. Thanks to all of you!

You'll want to look at the M68C for two birds.

Careful, the M68c does not accept map chips, which makes it rather useless in my eyes.

I wish I had gone with the X67C and then got an H2OC for the GPS. Hindsight. Oh well I'm still going to get an H2OC. His post stated that he wanted to kill two birds with one stone, so even though one of those birds only has one wing and one leg, it's still two birds.

I think a great combo that lowrance should consider making is a smaller unit like the 68 but allos the gps and mapping capablities. I say this because those larger untis draw more on the battery. A small screen is all you need when your finding the spot. Just my .02.

My 334 does eat battery much more than the smaller x67s, and they should have the 68 take chips; but I get over 20 hours over the weekend and it drains the batter about half way. That is with the GPS on the whole time. Its really not an issue.

I've had a X67C for 4 years and still LOVE IT!

From what I can tell, as far as interference, it really all depends on the substrate one is fishing over. I've played nice side by side with all other brands out there, including other Low's, but there are times it is next to impossible to fish w/in 100 yards of other units. I find my most problems fishing for lakers in deep, clear, rocky lakes. I think there is so much cone and sonar bouncing around, you really need to get away from others to play nice. However, there have been times when I don't have any problems at all. ??????? Who knows! The wonderful mysteries of sonar!

I fully reccomend that anyone purchasing a new unit to go the way of the Lowrance!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
