Aqua view battery

A friend of mine(who rarely fishes) has an aqua view camera. I am guessing it is a Scout. I have never owned one of these so I was surprised when he showed me the battery from the unit. The cameras that I have owned all used the same battery that is found in a flasher, 12 volt usually 8 amp or so.

This battery is small and square and it is only 4.5 amp. His problem is the battery is shot. I have been trying to charge it with my Vex smart charger but it will not take a charge. It is basically brand new but my guess is it has not been charged in 2 years.

Anyway, he is going to need a new battery, and a quick search of the net turned up nothing for me. They don't even seem to sell this battery on the Aqua-View site. Is this a common battery and I have just never paid attention? Can he get one at the normal places like Fleet Farm, or Gander? I could not find it in Cabela's web site.

I am sure that it would run off of a regular 7 or 8 amp battery and I have plenty of those laying around, but I am thinking that it is small for a reason and needs to be that small to fit in its designated spot.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is partially correct....any 12V battery will work, but only the 4.5 & 5 amp batteries will fit in the the Scout's battery compartment.

I just pick up a Scout 4.5 amp battery from Nature Vision (makers of Aqua View) last week. They said they didn't have any new in stock, so they sold me one for $10 out of a returned camera. Unfortunately it doesn't last much longer than my old one, about 3 hours. I'm starting to believe its due to only being 4.5 amps though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most of the new cameras use a full size Vex type battery.?.?

I know the older cameras that I have owned used the vex type battery.
