Mississippi River Eagles

I took advantage of the beautiful day today and took a road trip along the Mississippi from Winona to Red Wing. I wasn't the only person with this idea today...Lots of folks out with their cameras looking for Eagles. Here are a few from today. All taken with Canon 30D and 100-400mm lens.

I wish these next 2 shots could have been from the front. Looks like the fishing was good today.

Yep backends are better. I really like the last two shots. Quite dramatic.

Great shots. If you were at Colville park in Redwing, we were probably there at the same time. Except for lunch we were there from 8:15 to 3:30. It was busy there wasn't it!

That is where we ended up. I was wondering if any other FMers were out there. I was at the park from about 1-3 pm.

I like that first one a lot. Glad you got out and split up the winter doldrums on a nice day.

We were at the boat landing at the park til about 2:30 then went to the dock for a little bit and finished on the point at about 3:30. X left about 1:20 I think. It was a good day there. I don't know how anyone could get a decent eagle shot without a long lens though. Nothing was really close. 400-500mm was about the minimum I think.
