Fishing bets

So my two brothers, myself and brother-in-law are headed to Winnie this week for some fishing and bragging and probably a little boozing...not necessarily in that order!

I get a little bored with the usual first fish, biggest fish bet so does anyone have any fun bets or games that they play to provide bragging rights to the best catcher?

I was on a trip to Lac Seul for walleyes this fall and we came up with a "Pike Penalty Pot". Whoever caught the most pike owed $5 to all the other guys. The pike didn't need to be landed, a confirmed sighting in the water was enough to count. It turned out to be really fun, every time someone got a big fish or one that was really thumping all the other guys started cheering for it to be a pike.

You could do something like that with pike, pout, and/or tullibees on Winnie. You might need to combine them all into 1 contest since it doesn't seem like you get too many of those fish on Winnie.

Myself and a group of about 8-12 others go on a Mille Lacs launch trip every summer. The last few years we have made it that the person who catches the biggest fish has to plan the trip next year. No one really cares to be the planner so it makes you think twice about wanting to catch the BIG one.

Aside from the typical first/biggest/most bets or usually first/biggest/most throw back in hole or the first/most lost fish in the hole bets. Not all wins are good for the winner. LOL's.

The No Flasher usage bet.

The no live bait usage bet. (Artificails only bet).

Jigs only bet.

Spoons only bet.

Chubby darter bet - well not yet because some of them refuse to spend $$$$ for those lures. LOL's

Fish poker was fun up on Red last year. Everyone gets a card to start the day then you earn cards by biggest fish in each species, first fish of the day, and when ever you catch a new species. Things like that, however you want to do it. Just don't drink to much and leave your cards out while your sleeping for your buddies
