Paddle Tails

From what Ive seen the "Chemical" like smell is the paint used, Ive messed around with the paint and its got MEK in it, its nasty stuff. I've been working on these for about 3 months now, they are pretty interesting, I've tested 4 brands the Lucky Strike, the Silly Rabbit, Ghost Baits, and the Basstrix. I'm not gonna say which is better cause thats not what I have been comparing them to (plus the water is freakin cold and I haven't really been testing em on fish) But I will say I don't like any of the ones with paint on em because of the smell, but I doubt it would make that much of a difference in strikes since they are a reaction bait. But getting em to hold onto that thing is a different story. The Baby E and Tiny E along with the Kicking Slab and Realistix shouldn't really be compared to the Swimtube, they are a totally different class of swimbait, made in a totally different matter. I am anxiously waiting for the Miss to warm up in the spring though cause the swimbait in general opens up whole new doors!

True. I wanted to compare the 3-4 different varieties of "tail kicking things that fish bite" and see what you get for your money. For the most part, all of these are very closely priced, and that's what alot of people choose by.

They are probably down to around $4-5 per bait now ;\)

Those are pretty! (until you have to pay $10 for each chunk of plastic) Hopefully they'll drop soon.

I actually emailed Berkley and they said that they discontinued the 5in PowerBait Swim Shad, but they do have a handpoured shad in the saltwater series, a little more expensive, but I wonder if it would still work the same?

Personally I am going to look towards the Hollow Belly or the Gary Yamamoto 5in shad... time will tell which one produces the better bite.

ALL-IN

I realy want to try these baits, but I have a hard time justifying $3+ per bait for something that is as fragile as a tube bait. That is a lot of ching for something that will only boat a couple three fish before distruction.

I will be watching for durability reports

Id be willing to bet by the start of the season they will be much easier to come by and cheaper.

I cant believe the prices some of these baits sell for on hsolist. Do a little searching and you can find them instock online with a smaller price tag and probably soon in stores (no shipping fee).

Im curious to see if these baits are a lot of hype or if they will actually produce. Usually I wait to find out but this year I want to try some different swimbaits.

The hsolist prices are outrageous, but people pay it. I highly doubt the price is going to go much below 6-8$ per 4 pack, they are labor intensive (for the smaller manufacturer and probably the bigger manufacturer to) Get your self a torch or a sodering gun with a knife iron on it if you want to use the higher end swimbaits, it will save you a ton of money when you can weld em back together (musky guys will tell you this with bulldawgs) I will say they work though and will live up to the hype!

I just received some Paddle Tails I purchased online at a HSOforum that are almost exactly the same as Basstrix. I have both products and the only difference is there's no hole in the end of the tail like there is on the Basstrix ones. Otherwise they're 99% the exact same. Ghost Baits < Google it.

I just cant wait to get out fishing, I'm dying here!

I'll have to look them up, after watching the you tube video i like the berkly the best!!! The money minnow is a close second.

I really dont want to pay the price for Basstrix and i dont think i will but the only bad thing about all these others is that most dont make colors that i like. Like perch!!!

CB that site I got them from has a ton of colors that no other company makes, Blood Minnow, Junebug, all sorts of them. Definitely worth a look any way. $10 for 4 I think and he hand pours as the orders come in from what his site says. I ordered them last Mon or Tues and got them on Sat. so quick turn around as well. The ones I bought were called Phantom Shads from: www. Ghost Baits . com

^^^^^^ No spaces of course
