I personally have put together 2 different Canvas Craft houses, 1 being a 2 man and the other a 4 man with their insulated covers.

They seemed to be no more diffucult than a regular portable house. Yes, the 4 man was a little more work as it has twice the amount of poles but still not that hard.

As far as quality goes, these Canvas Craft houses are very well built as they come with the durable Otter tub. The seats in the Lodge style are also Otter type seats along with the hyfax and hitch. The support poles are very easy to put up and take down. Probably the easiest I have ever used.

Its impossible to say just how warm these houses are and how easy it is to heat them up and keep them toasty warm. The interior is also white or creme in color so it is easy to light up.

For anyone looking for a very nice, well built house that is very warm with this insulated cover, check out the Canvas Craft line up and I believe you will be a very happy camper.

I picked up an r300 for my mom, she's used it quite a bit. Both her and her husband think it is pretty slick. The poles ARE pretty chintzy. Personally I would have thought they would have used something beefier for the heavier insulated tent. I imagine they designed the thing with their eye on the total weight of the trap. Hers was already assembled when I picked it up, so I can't comment on the assembly. The sleds resin does seem a bit softer than the otter and x2 tubs, I think it is pretty well designed all in all.

I haven't seen too many other Rtec's out on the lakes, I would imagine there will be some on sale pretty soon. Sure wish I could use it today!

Cabela's in Rogers had them on sale for $699 about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if they are still at that price or not.

I'd also go with the Canvas Craft model on Otter sled. That will be my next purchase, probably this spring or next fall. The white interior looks to be a very nice feature as well as the Otter sled which I feel is the best out there.

But you have portabillity with the portable which will give one a better chance at a good day of fishing.

I have and do use the perm type house but if I want to really go out after some fish, then its a portable for me.

yes, you are correct in the Canvas Craft being a quality built portable that is a very warm unit.

I looked at buying one for those colder days on LOTWS but I think I am waiting till next year....Supposibly they are changing the poles that will be better than the cheap thin ones they have now. Also I saw one of the canvas's tear when being opened for the first time.

I thought the price was insane! The sled looked cheap to me. I have a fish trap and the thing I hate about it is the cheap sled. Banged up in a hurry pulling it behind a snowmobile. I would think for that kind of money they could have used the heavy duty sled. I never noticed the poles but if they are that cheap it sounds like the manufacturer is charging way to much for an insulated cover and a cheap HSOList.

I would look at the Canvas Craft as their whole house is quality. The sled is an Otter so one knows for sure that will be a darn good one. The rest of the house is very nice and WARM. Goes up and down very slick.

As far as the cover fitting the Wilderness sled, I believe they will. What you will need to do I believe is purchase the poles system also. regarding their poles, they look to be pretty nice and no where do I see anything cheap.

I would call Jon or Ben at Canvas Craft and ask them to make sure what will fit what.

I have used mine numerous times without one rip or tear anywhere. Very happy with both Canvas Craft portables.

Check them out soon.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
