Ice Armour Gloves

Recommended Posts

Do you guys own the gloves or the choppers? I own the choppers and love them. I use them for every cold weather hobby i have to keep my hands warm. One thing about the choppers is that they are a little too bulky to fish with. However they are by far the warmest choppers I have ever owned. And being waterproof is key!

I had 2 pairs of those original Ice armour gloves just plain come apart on me. First set I figured was perhaps a fluke so I swapped for another pair. Second pair came apart at the seams right away again so I took a refund. Those gloves are absolute junk in my book.

This season I checked those Ice Armour X gloves real good at a local shop, them 40 dollar ones, and they seemed like a good set of gloves. I reluctantly bought a pair as I still had a bad taste from them highly touted originals. Happy to report these gloves are holding up, they're plenty warm and the waterproof integrity is holding up. Only 2 complaints.. 1 is the palm material absorbs water and metal things like to stick to 'em when you set things down.. A problem I can live with. The other is they don't really breathe and let perspiration out so my hands have gotten sweaty now and then, but they still stay warm. The X gloves are a winner and I would reccomend these to anyone.

I own both the Ice Armour and Ice Armour X. Love em both. I use the original when I am actually fishing and the X for cutting holes, pulling out, setting up, etc. The X are much bulkier than the originals so I don't usually use them when actually fishing. Both are great IMHO.

I picked up a pair and have used them on my last couple of trips. As others have stated, they keep you warm and dry. My hands do sweat a bit in them and they don't breathe really well, so I have to make sure they're dry on the inside before the next trip. All in all a good set of gloves so far.

I got the ice armor choppers as a gift and I don't think they're all that warm, but they definitely are waterproof. While tearing down the portable in the dark, I stepped in a 10" hole and wound up sticking my arm into the hole next to it before I could get up (talk about a sight!), but I was saved plenty of misery by the long gaiter over my parka sleeve and the waterproof mitt material.

I have both kinds of chopper gloves. I have the original and X series. I must say I like the X series better for two reasons. First, the nylon on the back of the glove doesn't absorb any water. That means it won't become a block of ice like the orignals can. Second, I like this one, they have a little pounch for a hand warmer on top. That works very well and warms your hands up on those extra cold days.

I got the original gloves last year for Christmas, and I love 'em. I can ram my hand down a hole, and the hands stay warm and dry. Plus they aren't bulky either, so I can fish with them on. I've recommended them to a lot of people I know.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
