lost ice auger

red ice

Recommended Posts

Was on Lake Oliver tonight in Swift County. Lost my ice auger. Was either stolen out of the back of my pick-up or I set it down to load my 4-wheeler and forgot it. Went back to look for it and its gone. It is a Strikemaster Lazer 224 8" auger. I have called the local Sheriff departments (Swift and Stevens) and the local radio station. If found or have any info please shoot me an email at: [email protected]

Thanks, RED

2 years ago I was fishing N. Center and 2 guys aksed if it was ok to set up next to me. It was pretty windy and they had a portable so I said sure go ahead. I heard them drilling holes with a hand auger and went out and opened a couple holes for them with my old beat up Magnum. I went to bed in the wheel house. Next morning, the 2 guys are gone and so is my auger that I set next to my house. Filled out a report and never heard a word. Still makes me mad everytime I think about it.

Now that's just rude right there minnbowhunter. It's one thing to find one left behind (should still try to find an owner) but to take it right from you. Poeple just suck.

I have been on the ice for more years than I care to remember and have always said that the people that ice fish are the best people in the world. Always friendly, helpful, to the new folks you meet. I still think that way, but now if I see someone who I think looks a little shady (you know the type) I jot down their license #. Just in case. It's sad that I feel that way. Oh yeah the .45 is in the fishhouse with me too.

after the last few years there is a 20 ga in the house at all times now. It something about the sound of pump sliding, that changes peoples mind. It would be nice to know where my TV, rods and tackle is, but we will find that in time.

Although I dispise thieves you can not shoot them and if you do,your the one going to prison and for a long time if one dies.If they live they can sue your pants off.

You need to fear for your life to use deadly force and I doubt a thief is going to try to kill you in your fish house.

You should rethink your response next time.

Should someone break in and you shoot.

Your post is proof enough to show intent to harm without fear of life.

I agree with the idea of the shotgun pump being the universal sign for get the *$&# out, but I do have to agree with crappie keith. I had some run ins with thieves and was lucky enough to get everything back and then some with help from the local police department. In this experience it was explained how much trouble we could have been in if matters would have been taken into our own hands upon retrieving the stolen goods. I am happy that I learned the easy way what could happen in if I acted upon my instincts and not listened to my more level headed friends.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
