Strikemaster Strikelight

I was looking to see if there was anyone with experience dealing with the new strikelight. I have a first gen lazer 2 horse and love it, but it is getting tired. I have looked into the new strikelight augers and they seem like the hot ticket but i was hoping to see if anyone has any experience with them. I wanted to know if they have any maintenence/repair/reliability issues. I will definitly be getting a strikemaster as it has never once let me down, and their service/customer service is local and excellent. I just want to see if anyone else has given one of those a shot.

I have used the Strikelite the last couple or three years and think it is a great auger, but I have to say that I like their electric auger even better. I do use both, but I would say that I use the electric more often for what I do.

I ran the StrikeLite all last winter and couldn't have been happier with how it performed. Less wear and tear on your body when punching a lot of holes and a lot easier on gas. Also cuts a pretty quick and mean hole

Awesome auger. Light, quiet, doesn't stink. Not trying to discourage you, but the old strikemaster that you have probalby just needs the governor adjusted to get the rpm's back up where they belong. Takes about 5 minutes and you would swear its a new machine afterwards.

I was in the same place old lazer mag getting weak and didn't want to fool around with a few odd problems, run and gun ice fishing is no place for an auger thats not perfect so my strikelight should be at the office on tuesday. One place I shopped at said they had already sold out for the year on the strikelight.

How do you really know when an auger is too tired? I also have a first gen. 2 hp Lazer that is 12 years old.It takes an extra pull or two to crank it over, but it still works pretty well.My 3 hp Lazer is 10 years old, and is quite the tank in the weight category, but works as good as new.The 3hp is strictly for pike fishing, not runnin' and gunnin'.

It is a little down in the compression department and I have had to replace the plastic engaging peice on the recoil about 6 times. 2 years ago I did mess with the governor and it did help, but I can tell it doesn't have the grunt it used too. I will probably use it till the middle of winter, as it fired up yesterday on the second pull. Im glad to see that people like the strikelight. if im luck santa will put one under the tree for me.

I have not touched mine since last spring but I did do the SEA Foam thing. Went out Sat. and it started on the 2nd pull and ran great. Owned one for 2 years now. No complaints!

deadeye, have you ever tried taking out the spark plug and spraying a little WD-40 or some sort of carb and choke cleaner? I personally like the K+W Knocker loose for this application. I typically do this every year before I hit the Ice.

I also ran the StrikeLite last winter. Loved it! Quiet, smokeless, cuts just as fast as my Lazer, and very light. Had zero problems, even when people that borrowed it laid it down on the wrong side. Just fired it up last week for this season.

Great auger for sure.. I did have an issue last year though, with a blown crankcase seal, due to ice-up in the crankcase breather tube. Robin, the powerhead manufacturer, made a design switch to the layout of the tube for this season. So that should eliminate any more of those problems or for those who experienced it also, by getting the new tube put on.

StrikeMaster definately took care of me with this problem, and were top notched when it came to solving the problem for other consumers.
