Guest
According to the DNR Crappies have the ability to negotiate the test nets and swim around them rather then caught in them....With that kind of inteligents you know that they just have to have some other form of protection from anglers... "The leader of the pack". Not even Walleyes have this kind of "get-up" in their gang. PCG

FishTracker
I was thinking of getting a Vex.... I just might have to get one of those underwater cameras to keep an eye out for that guardian fish!
hawgTime
I also had a dream. A voice told me that the Guardian fish which you see on you Vex is only a reflection of your inner-guardian fish, the same Guardian fish that is within all of us. When the Guardian fish appears on your Vex, it's only a reminder to you (and all of us) that what you really want and seek is a protector or a guardian, as it were. The only way to rid yourself of this unwanted interference on your Vex and in your life is to join my "Church of Guardianology", sign over your paycheck and wife and soon all your fears and blips will be gone.hawgTime

Guest
Bass do not get caught in the nets as often because the nets are not set up in the weeds and such areas that Bass love to hang out...You see numbers of Crappies in nets because populations are high....But according to some fishery experts at the DNR Crappies are most likely to negotiate the nets...This witnessed on underwater camera recordings...again told to me by...THE DNR.On lakes that I have fished for many years season round and have a good idea as to the Crappies population and sizes I can first handidly say that the netting reports and fishing results don't always match up.PCG
cold one sd
I'm beginning to believe that the ice is still too thin in a lot of locations this winter. Keep it up, the entertainment is great!!!!!
Crawlerman
I thought that was Bass and carp? Crappies, Bluegills and Pike make the majority of net catches; as if they purposely swim into them. Bass and carp are rarely caught in gill nets; even if the lake has a large population of them. I haven't seen more than 6 LM bass caught in a given survey of any of the lakes I've looked at; and one of them-- Orchard; which I catch many bass only came up with 4. Interesting.... Guest
Either they are swimming around the net.........or the DNR isn't suspending those nets over deep water during June and July when they are test netting. It helps to put the nets in areas that the fish prefer at that time of year......I wonder which one it is? Scott Steil
Guest
Hey hey now...Don't question my credibility...I am just going by what I was told by some of the DNR fisherys experts.PCG
Ice Hole
Bass are the ones that are good about avoiding nets Thats why they gotta zap em to survey their population. Walleyes n such are kinda like lemmings...thats why you see so many in the nets. The bassies are smart. Thats why they fight so hard when hooked, them walleys are just too dumb to know they are hooked and don't really try to fight much untill they are in the bottom of the boat or on the fillet board.
