Ice fishing forum problems.

sirsunnyslayer

Question

Why won't my computers at home open the ice fishing forum? Every other forum on this site opens just fine but all I get on the ice fishing forum is the ice leaders banner at the top and that's it.

I'm stumped, help me out. I don't think it's a firewall issue since the other forums open and I'm pretty sure I don't want to take down the firewall just to read one forum.

This happened to me last year. Frustrating!!!

I'm taking a wild guess here but... you are browsing the internet with Explorer.

I think what happens (or happened) is you picked up some spyware that is giving you problems with that forum. Just a guess, but I've had aweful problems with Internet Explorer.

Try loading Mozilla Firefox. Its a free web browser and had much fewer issues with spyware, pop-ups, etc.

This was my fix. Hope it works for you. wink.gif

Let these annoying IceFishing fanatic scream, who cares what they say, it's still Open Water !!!!

BTW I heard this year will be a tough one for ice, except from the freezer.... wink.gifgrin.gif

Is it possible that you need to clear your temp internet files folder. We have an issue with mitchell all the time at work where a file becomes corrupted and pages will not open. Clear the temp internet files folder and all is well.

I had the same problem. I found that something in the Norton suite causes it, though I am not exactly sure what. I disable my complete Norton suite while on Fishing Minnesota then turn it back on afterwards. The Ice Fishing forums wouldn't come up at all, plus a lot of ads in other forums too.

Norton plus Internet explorer = problems. Norton used to be the best and now it is more problematic then anything else. You would be better served with Micro Trend and run firefox. If you continue to use norton you are best to completely delete it and reinstall it. You must remove it with a norton utility. If you attempt to delete it with add remove programs through control panel you will have other problems. What probably happened was there was a norton warning sometime when you were in fishing minnesota and you told it to take action by mistake and now it keeps blocking that site. If you are paying for norton you should maybe look elsewhere. I had norton and two virus and PC micro trend found them and helped me remove them. If you download and run Firefox like previously mentioned you will notice your web sites load at least three times faster then with internet explorer.

Other than the ad blocker issue (is that Nortons fault?) on this particular site I've never had a problem with it or Explorer on either of my three Dell computers. The chances of me changing any of it are pretty slim, and how much faster than instantly can pages load?

If norton thinks that an intrusion has happened it will ask you if you want to ignore it , block it or allow it one time. If you were to choose to block it say if a pop up happened while you were in the ice fishing forum Norton will block you when you go to ice fishing even if there is no pop up. I am not saying this is what has happened only that it could be one possibility. I used to use IE with pop up stopper and the popups still got through. Since switching all three of my computers to Firefox no popups have happened. I frequent sites including this one a year ago where firefox was unbelievably fast compared to IE. Last year fishing minnesota fixed whatever the problem was last year so it is much faster now. A true test is a site like Iboats that runs much slower and you will really notice a difference.
