who owns what?

there is a section of woods on 48th street sw in rochester that i am interested in hunting but i cant seem to find out who owns it .. i have talked to people living in the area but cant seem to find who owns it ... anyone know how i could find that out?

Go to the County Recorder's office and find out the property description and ask them to help you find the owner.

Check if that county has an on line gis system. Some have mapping and searches by address & you can gain the owners info there.

Knock on the neighbors door and ask. Everyone knows who owns the adjacent property, especially farm land.

Ditto on the platt book! If you hunt a certain county alot, it is a very good investment. You can find hidden state land, or you may need to ask this question again next year, with a platt book you will have the answer. They only cost about $25.

Is the property just to the west of the golf course and east of the bend in county 8? If so the plat I've seen lists Francis Dee as the owner of 160 acres.
