LMITOUT
Anyone else see John Force's crash tonight on ESPN2? Wow. His car completely tore apart and he's lucky to only have a broken ankle and wrist, as well as some other minor injuries. That could put an end to his chances of another championship. lawdog
WOW,that didn't look good. John is a great guy and one heck of a racer. Thoughts and prayers to him for a speedy recovery!
MN Mike
WOW is right, that is one of the strangest wrecks I've seen with a F/C, had to actually look at that a couple times to see that it was only the front of the car and the body slamming into K.B.You should have seen those 2 going at it at the pre race ceremonies at BIR this year behind the stage, they were pretty happy they were on opposite sides of the ladder hoping they would get a chance to race each other in the finals and they did.Team Force has taken a couple of tough bumps this year but I'm sure it will take more than this wreck to make him retire.Mike

Eric Wettschreck
I just saw it in super duper slo-mo. It looks like KB hit a timing light, it flew over and took out John's right rear tire, the rest is history. It's amazing what some of these guys actually live through. LMITOUT
That's what they were speculating last night about the timing lights being sent into Force's lane and hitting a tire. After everything that happened this year to that team, it will be interesting to see if John decides to retire or not. Medlin killed, Ashley head on into the wall, and now this. It's definitely been a strange year for the Force team.
Eric Wettschreck
If his leg injuries are serious enough he may be forced (no pun intended) to retire.
harvey lee
Agreed that it has been a very diffucult season for the Force team. If anyone can come back from serious injury, big John will be one that can do it. John Force has done for drag racing what the #3 did for NASCAR. VMS
John had a tough run when things started happening, no doubt. Sounds like he will make a full recovery, though and be back on the track next spring. His wrist was only dislocated (it does have some pins to stabilize), there was no head injury at all, the leg/ankle is pinned up for recovery, and they covered the scrape that went to the bone on the knee. His fingers, although bloody and torn apart, were not broken. so...he'll be in some pain for a long while, but he'll be back.. I'll bet, though, that through the off season, they look at how they can protect the lower extremities in a crash more. By design, the back end is supposed to break away like that, but it left his legs vulnerable. I just hope they make the changes BEFORE something worse happens, like when who was it...Arie liendyke? (spelling) in open-wheel lost his legs when the car came apart and his legs were vulnerable. Bad crash, but had the car NOT come apart, I think things woudl have been much worse... snowman678
I believe you're confusing Luyendyk with Alex Zanardi. It was Zanardi that lost both of his legs in an F-1 accident in 2001.
