Everyone quit cattin'?

Quiet in here today. Not typical for a weekday after a long weekend.

I'll admit, I got skunked last Friday on Cat League night. Had a couple taps early on cutbait by not even close to hooking up. Turtles... crazy.gif

The Minnesota near the Cities has risen 10+ feet in one week and fallin' another 5-6' in the following week. Water levels are looking sweet right now but the current is raging compared to similar levels a month ago. Might be the fastest current I've seen all year. I can do the math forwards AND backwards but this doesn't add up to quality fishing conditions IMO.

You catch fish, you are lucky! Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

We boated 5 for the BPCL..... Fishing same areas that you guys were in. Just needed a little fine tuning. Flats and channels Good fish to be had. Hanson you talk a good line. .....River levels have settled to normal for this time of year....after the influx of rain.... Maybe a couple more pod cast might help your ratio....cool.gif

The fishing is perfect.... The hogs have shifted for a bit but things are settling down....

These next few weekends are gonna be prime for monsters.

thanks.

Hey, Mr. Cris Hanson, I have something that needs to be delivered to the BPCL final gathering. The two hats seem to be a hit so this ought to go over well also. But this is for the losers to be photoed with. grin.gif Since we both live in Minnetonka, maybe you could be the messenger?? When is the gathering and where could I bring this item to you?

Funny,

Like DTRO said (jaw drop), I also had gotten out to St. Croix for some fishing. It was great scenery and I am talking nature type though. I went with a couple boats and the boat I was in boated a 13lbs channel early Monday morning. That was it! I got out from shore in St. Paul on Friday with no luck.

I think besides a trip to 35w in 2 weekends, I will be spending the remaining cat trips on the Croix. We met up with a guy that seems to know what he is doing and had the pictures to prove it. He also knows the state record flat holder first hand and I learn how flat was caught and were this weekend. It was slow, but a nice change in pace. I have good feelings about the Croix and hope it will pan out before the end of the month. Plus we are fishing in some nice enclosed boats, now evenings are damp and cold.

You talking about the weekend of 15th & 16th? If so, the 15th is the last Moore's Catfish contest of the year. We'll be launching out of Lyndale/35 most likely, but P2 is not out of the question either for the final showdown of the season.

Flaco651,

Yes we are going to try our chances in the Moore's Bait contest (if we get down in time). I think this weekend we will be sitting on the Croix again and other weekends past the contest. It is a nice change of pace and I have not fished the Croix in years. Also by the sounds of it, I might try my hand on the "rough fish" sturgy action during the early evening hours.

I am going to keep fishing as much as I can. It is too hot to goose hunt in the evenings anyway. I would really like to get a 3rd safari fish this year. If any one wants to get out on weekdays give me a shout.

I'm still up for some fishing. Ed I'll give you a call. I just got back from a week of chasing elk in the Colorado rockies, it was fun but my tired body is ready to sit in a boat for a while.

Just chasing, or did you get to squeeze a couple off?

Out of 7 guys in camp we got 4 elk, two 5x5, one spike and a cow. I didn't even get a shot, had a cow at 5 yards but couldn't draw because she was staring at me, also had two bulls at about 20 yards but got winded before they were in a position where I could draw. Hiked about 15 miles the first day, the last 5 with 50 lbs of meat on the pack frame. Got a huge blister on the back of my heel that still hurts. But those steaks from the backstrap are going to taste good on the grill tonight. Might do some nice relaxing shore fishing tonight after supper.
