Bass Pro Shops... and future 'plans' for the Mall of America?

I haven't heard much talk on this subject for a long time now. I love going to the MOA with the kiddies... but for myself I am REALLY looking forward to a possible Bass Pro Shops store!

Does anyone know:

1- Is a Bass Pro Shop REALLY coming?

2- When (or if) will construction begin?

3- When (or if) will it be completed?

4- Where will it be located? (i.e. connected to MOA or just nearby like Ikea?)

5- MOA "Phase II"... is this for real or just a future hope?

I can't wait to see a Bass Pro Shops store in Minnesota!... we were at the Branson Missouri store last year and it was really amazing!

I've been wondering the same thing. From what I know, "If they build it (the mall), they will come (BPS)."

Last i heard was that Bass Pro was talking to the state and asking for federal funds

I dont necasarily support tax payers paying for a twins stadium, especially since the owner could easily pick up the bill... but that would benefit the community more than a BPS.

From what i have heard is they want to get taxs free for ten years. When cabelas opened there store in Rodgers they got Taxs free for ten years. Im not sure if it was on the land or what!!! But Bass Pro wants something like that also.

it would be awesome to have this in minnesota. Its only right to have one here, after all we are a huge bass fishing state just like walleyes. Would be nice to have it here.

Only negative about this BPS in Minnesota, is that you will be charged a tax online orders now. So that sorta sucks, unless you go over to Wisconsin to place an order at a friends house to avoid sales taxes.

If you have a store in the state you are buying online from, you get taxed. So since we don't have a BPS in our state now, we don't get taxed for online orders, but when that gets built and running, we will get taxed for BPS online orders.

Yes, we'll have to pay tax, but if we pick it up in the store, we won't be paying shipping and handling fees. Either way, we pay.

its really a lose lose situation. Yet, you get to spend time in the store, yet at the store, your going to spend more money. On the internet, you pay shipping.

Im sure thier sales will hurt a bit but I think most people will hit the closest store most the time instead of driving across town just because its BPS. I will live less than 30mins from them but I already have 3 options within 5 minutes.

Bass Pro is more of a one stop shop though, compared to the Ganders/Dick's/Sportman's Stores. That's pretty much the only reason I'd drive to get something over the closest store option.
