Slyster
I haven't heard much talk on this subject for a long time now. I love going to the MOA with the kiddies... but for myself I am REALLY looking forward to a possible Bass Pro Shops store! Does anyone know: 1- Is a Bass Pro Shop REALLY coming? 2- When (or if) will construction begin? 3- When (or if) will it be completed? 4- Where will it be located? (i.e. connected to MOA or just nearby like Ikea?) 5- MOA "Phase II"... is this for real or just a future hope? I can't wait to see a Bass Pro Shops store in Minnesota!... we were at the Branson Missouri store last year and it was really amazing!
Coach Dog
I've been wondering the same thing. From what I know, "If they build it (the mall), they will come (BPS)."
ocf1
Would sure seem nice, I would probably get a job, depending on when it comes.

Central Bassman
Last i heard was that Bass Pro was talking to the state and asking for federal funds
TurnUpTheFishing
Federal funds? They want taxpayers to help pay for their store?!
MSRiverdog
The taxpayers are paying for Pollads Palace. Oh wait, check that, the taxpayers are paying, and paying, and paying.......................
TurnUpTheFishing
I dont necasarily support tax payers paying for a twins stadium, especially since the owner could easily pick up the bill... but that would benefit the community more than a BPS. Central Bassman
From what i have heard is they want to get taxs free for ten years. When cabelas opened there store in Rodgers they got Taxs free for ten years. Im not sure if it was on the land or what!!! But Bass Pro wants something like that also. Cabela10
Quote:1- Is a Bass Pro Shop REALLY coming?-----Yes, it is really coming, I believe it's already been approved and I believe construction starts in 2008.2- When (or if) will construction begin?---- 2008 I believe3- When (or if) will it be completed?---- late 2009 or 20104- Where will it be located? (i.e. connected to MOA or just nearby like Ikea?)----- It will be East of Ikea along the road that runs along the east side of the MOA. It will also be connected to the mall as part of Phase II, just like the Dick's Sporting Goods is connected to the Burnsville Mall.5- MOA "Phase II"... is this for real or just a future hope?------ It's for real and should be completed in a reasonable time. bassNspear
it would be awesome to have this in minnesota. Its only right to have one here, after all we are a huge bass fishing state just like walleyes. Would be nice to have it here.
ocf1
im going to have to get a job there!
Cabela10
Only negative about this BPS in Minnesota, is that you will be charged a tax online orders now. So that sorta sucks, unless you go over to Wisconsin to place an order at a friends house to avoid sales taxes.
bassNspear
ya thats not cool. i wonder why there doing that?
Cabela10
If you have a store in the state you are buying online from, you get taxed. So since we don't have a BPS in our state now, we don't get taxed for online orders, but when that gets built and running, we will get taxed for BPS online orders. bassNspear
ah i see. i guess i will have to go to the store myself then!!
Coach Dog
You'll still get taxed, either way...
fishinchicks
Yes, we'll have to pay tax, but if we pick it up in the store, we won't be paying shipping and handling fees. Either way, we pay.
bassNspear
its really a lose lose situation. Yet, you get to spend time in the store, yet at the store, your going to spend more money. On the internet, you pay shipping.Do we really win??
Cabela10
What will happen to the Ganders, Dick's and Sportsman's Warehouses around town? Will they go under or will they stay afloat?
TurnUpTheFishing
Im sure thier sales will hurt a bit but I think most people will hit the closest store most the time instead of driving across town just because its BPS. I will live less than 30mins from them but I already have 3 options within 5 minutes.
Cabela10
Bass Pro is more of a one stop shop though, compared to the Ganders/Dick's/Sportman's Stores. That's pretty much the only reason I'd drive to get something over the closest store option.
