gps question

Thinking of getting an h20c. can i use it for hunting on land or is it just for on the water. Can i mark deer stands and that sort of thing with it

You can do anything with a H2O. The Hunt offers some additional features and more hunting type icons. It will allow you to set boundarys on property too.

all i need it for on land is to find my way out of woods and maybe mark a deer stand or 2. other than that i would just use on water??

It dosnt work like on water.You'll need an open sky to get sat fixes,In a woods I walk to an opening,if it isnt large enough no fix!

No GPS will work without an unobstructed view of the sky. An H2Oc would work that same as your "old" GPS.

Very true.

I use mine on the water, in my car, or in the forest and it usually works fine. In really thick overhead forest it might lose signal occasionally but for the most part I have no problems.

i use my H2O for hunting all of the time, i just wish i had bought the mapcreate software with it, those topos sure look nice for hunting, oh well, back to the toy store....

IMO, you should really only get an H20C if you plan on using map chips with it (e.g. LakeMaster, Navionics, etc). If all you plan to do with it is mark your favorite fishing spots or your deerstands, I would stick with the one you already have.

But to answer your specific question, yes an H20C is fully capable of getting you to and from your deerstand, and any other location that you save as a waypoint. By design, all GPS receivers are capable of doing this.

i see there is an h20c plus. Does a guy need to spend the extra hundred for the plus ???. Also does the h20c ussually come with a 12 volt plug?????

H2Oc comes with a cigarette lighter plug in.

I think the "plus" version just adds a card reader and Map Create software. The GPS itself is identical.

you can't go wrong with the H20C. I used it last year while deer hunting and it worked great. I stood at the base of my dads portable, my brothers, as well as my own and marked them on my gps. They even have a deer stand symbol for that very reason. Not only could I see how we were grouped, I could find the distance between us. It is a very cool tool. With the lakemaster chips it is lethal.
