Confused on shakey heads

Could someone please post some pix of shakey head setups? I am still confused and it really helps to see them. Do you use those black shiny standup jig heads? Floating worms etc. I posted something similar before but I just didn't get it. frown.gif

Here are some of the jig heads that I have used for Shaky head fishing. I really like the first one… I like it because it keeps my worm straight and it goes throw grass a lot better. You can use ANY type of soft plastic worm for Shaky head fishing. It all depends on the season and the species you are after. The one that I have pictured is a Reaction Innovations Flirt 6”… Shaky Head fishing is just another term for Jig Worming!!! I hope this helps smile.gif

Thanks.. but wouldn't something like a senko just sit flat on the bottom? That's the big point I'm confused on. Thats where I figured you MUST use floating plastics but I've heard others say you don't have to. How would that be?

I like that first head that CB posted.

Sly, Shaky Heads are just another form of the age old jigworm. Sure, you might apply a little different action to the bait during your retrieve and the modified ballhead jig helps. You could really get equal results with a mushroomhead and a plastic. But, to the guys that do it and get results, keep doing it. If you can find a few techniques that you can master and produce fish, you've crested a big hill in bass fishing.

I'll second the bagley's. I'm still trying to learn this season. The Bagley's can be found at Cabela's. they are on an end cap facing the "boats area" in between the Northland jigs isle and the hooks isle. They run about $3 a pack of six, but seem to work well.

One more thing that I look for in a Shaky Head Jigs is a long shank hook. I don’t want one that is really short, I like one that is long so it keeps my worms straighter and helps with better hook sets.

I have looked at the bagley's before but I really like the Tru-Tungsten ones!!! smile.gif

I know a guy that sells these on hsolist grin.gif He also sells some stand up ones in his hsolist store

The great thing about these jigs are there versatile, with no lead up the hook shank the tip up under the slightest pressure, I also rig a custom flatsided beaver type bait on these with no problem (doesn't look like a wide enough hook gap but works none the less)

Found the Bagley Shakey head jigs at Cabelas! Can't wait to try them out. You all say floating plastics is not necessary right? Deitz.. standard Comidas good eh?.. but not for shakey head.. should I just use a long ribbon tail plastic worm of some kind?
