A series of today

Today, photo excursion clients and I went from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., then from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. We drove, we walked, we slogged through swamp. We chainsawed trees off trails to get where we needed to go.

Golly, that's a long day.

But a great day, indeed.

Here are some from my camera. All Canon 30D, all Canon 100-400L IS, isos from 100 to 400, variable apertures, focal lengths, metering options. All handheld.

Great series of shots. #1 just has a 3D quality that looks great. #4 with the dark background just makes the water drop and white just pop!

Wow. Wish I could have been with you. Although, 4:30 am is quite early. What kind of bird is in the 2nd photo?

The butterfly is a northern crescent, the large bird a great blue heron on its nest, the doe a deer, a female deer, the flower a wild calla lily, and the hawk a broad-winged hawk.

I really like the bokeh in #1 it is very nice and how you captured the drops of water from the doe running through the water. Sounds like a long but very rewarding day. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, Steve, what a milkrun! I could spend a month in the woods and not get those captures. Great detail and composition in all the shots. #1 with the sharp green foreground detail against the green bokeh is superb.
