I've got a fish trap pro that I bought used last year. I just use the old reliable 5 gallon bucket to hold my rods. The only problem is when I flip up my trap the rods always get caught under the canvas. What are some rod storage solutions you guys have come up with or seen?

Hi Joe,
If you want the real deal go with the Ice Fishing Rod and Gear Bag.

You can find it here

Get rid of the bucket for casrrying your poles. It's very handy and portable.

i got mine for my birthday last year, its the best present i ever got ( almost) i got 8 rods,a small tackle box, a light, dipper and a set of ice cleets in it. you have to watch it with your life, not to misplace. it would take a long time to replace it. its nice to go from the fishhouse to the truck to the garage shelf. everything is all together.

Lipripper, These bags would work great for that. I found one in a bait shop in SD a couple years back and have no regrets on buying it! Mine has straps like a backpack so you can wear it. I'd doublecheck to make sure that the one's on this site have that. I can put all my rods, tipups, tackle, snacks, ice cleats, flashlight, etc... in there.

Yes the ones that are sold on this site have the backpack straps.

LipRipper, They work great for running and gunning on a snowmobile or 4 wheeler. I have a foam box on the tongue of my Otter that I carry the Vex in and I carry the bag on my bag. Great way to move around and find fish.

Is there enough room to fit your vex in there? A few guys I fish with use hikers back packs and they can fit a ton of stuff in there including their vex and their favorite refreshments. The bag looks great but do you know if there any plans to make even a larger one?

Ripper,

There's room for refreshments, lunch, rods, tackle and just about anything else in there. Just no room for the vex. Before I had the foam box, I used to bungee cord mine onto the seat in front of me. Then all I had to do was find a bare spot on the ice for the ducer smile.gif

Just got my Croxton Pond bag last night. Cant wait to use it, I think I just eliminated at least 2 buckets that solely carried gear! Quality construction, NICE zippers and plenty roomy. At 39.95, its a steal!! Just dont leave it laying around or it will dissapear!

I am on my 3rd season now with the Croxton Pond tote and it is like new.

I have even use it for packing in on walk abouts and canoe trips on rivers during the spring & summer months, handy deal Eh.

They strap on a ATV well too so you ice rangers will love them for hit and run fishing.

By far one of the handiest gear storage systems I have used.

*Rick is there any chance you could add the Croxton Pond 2 rod 37" model some time in the future? They are great for the larger custom built predator or deadstick rods that really are at risk without the benefit of a good case.* Thanks......Ed

I just received my bag and I have to say it is pretty awesome!!! I loaded it up with 7 rods and reels with all the extra stuff in the side pockets. My longest rod is 30". Three of the reels are Shimano 200 series (But they will be changed this week because I bought three micro-spinning reels for them.) I took golf bag inserts (69 cents each), cut a notch about 3 inches from the end and made a slit from the end to the notch. Now, My rod goes in, the slit "closes back up", thus, holding the rod in place in the tube. Than I trimmed the tube to length. My rod tips are protected and my rods won't tangle together (important with 7 rods in close proximity).
This bag rocks!!!

PS
the mice like the cork handles on the HT signature series rods. I wish I had this bag over the summer to store my rods in.

Isn't that ol bucket a pain. breaking rod tips, junk tumbling out, snow getting in it and freezing with your lures in the bottom.

Time to make life easier and more productive. Especially if youi're going to be mobile to stay on fish.

I agree with you phishnphool. This bag makes mobile ice fishing so much easier than any other organization method I've seen. I've seen most of them.
You basically have everything you need in one easy to carry bag. Can be worn like a back pack.

Your buddy calls and wants to fish outdoors, grab the bag and you're ready. No more worry about where you tackle, rods, reels, ice dipper, cleats, tip-ups etc are located..their all in the bag. Add beverage and food then off you go. Ready to move all over the ice.

Same deal if your buddy calls and wants to go to his big comfy fish-house. Then if you decide to go out searching a bit for fish, you and your bag are ready.

In your portable you keep everything at easy hands reach. You want to move, in go the rods, zip it up, and you're ready to start the move. None of this trying to stuff things into a bucket and then worrying about everything falling all over the place.

There is one draw back...Once you have your gear bag, you'll have to keep an eye on it because all your buddies will want it. Also keep it safe and locked when unattended. You can literally have all your tackle, rods/reels, and misc. gear easily organized in the ice rod and gear bag.

For those of you that have em, I know you feel great having one.

For those of you that don't have one, you'll either have one or want one - sooner rather than later.

It makes Ice Fishing trips sooo much easier.

Just posting the link to see the Bag here on this page for ya.

If you want the real deal go with the Ice Fishing Rod and Gear Bag.

Get rid of the bucket for carrying your poles, ice tackle, gear, food, etc. It's very handy and portable.

It has straps so you can carry it like a backpack. It's heavy duty cordura construction. You'll wonder how you ever got along without this bag once you start using it.

I guarantee it!

This bag was a huge hit at the Ice Fishing Show this past weekend.

We only had 5 bags left. I highly recommend you get one for yourself. We've already ordered more in.

Yeah, the bag is a slick deal. I just got mine a couple weeks ago, and it actually cost some dealer a sale on a new portable. I have a Frabill Speed Shack, which I really like, but it's not a sled-style, so it doesn't lend itself well to ATV travel. It's always a hassle to haul everything around. Well, the combination of this bag and a ********** from Sand Burr (this may be removed as unauthorized advertising, I understand, but the ********** is a good product) and I can haul everything and use my Speed Shack. Saved me a few dollars on a new sled-type portable. Maybe I need to spend that money on a Vexilar or a Marcum.......
