FM Bass Fishing Event

FMers,

We will do our first FM Bass Fishing Event on June 16th at Lake Waconia. We will get started at 6:30 AM and finish by 12:30 PM (six hours). The event will be limited to 15 boats. Furthermore, we will use the public access, so expect some instructions on how we will minimize our presence there.

So, why am I calling it an event and not a tournament? Well, it really is a get together of FM bass fishermen and women. We'll make a bit of a competition out of it. But, there's no trophies or fanfare involved in this one. It's really an event to get together, meet some fellow FMers, and exchange some ideas. If you're thinking this will be a tournament in the true sense you may be disappointed. However, anyone who fished our event last year should tell you it was a darn good time.

So, here's the deal, each boat will be comprised of one two man team. And, like I said before, I am limiting this to 15 teams. Furthermore, one member of each team has to be a member of FM as of today. This is not an event open to the general public. It's open to FMers and their fishing buddy. If you're interested in reserving a spot, I will need an email from you with your name, your FM on-screen name, your partner's name, and his/her FM on-screen name if they have one. This email will reserve you a spot in the event. Now, this is an on your honor deal, if you tell me you're coming, I expect you are coming. Don't ditch me the day before, because I will hang you out to dry here. grin.gif

Send your email to bornofice at yahoo (Contact Us Please) com (you'll need to form that up into an email). In turn, I will send you back more information regarding the event.

This is your chance to get together with your fellow FM bassers and have a good time. I'm looking forward to it.

Are you weighing any fish? just for fun. I wouldn't mind a cool name under my name like Bob got last year. 2007 FM Bass "event" champion sounds nice.

What will be the rules if any?

Ray, you have mail.

I'll have to wait on the trash talking for a couple weeks yet. I still don't have bass on my mind. I'll still be in backtrolling mode here for the next few weeks.

Hey guys, I've fished a couple club events at Waconia. There is a hundred feet of beach right next to the public landing. We've always pulled the boats right on the beach and weighed fish. This will work well.

There are no BASS club tourneys or any other tourneys that I could find on Waconia that day. Should be great.

Watch out for anyone named Wilson or Jung in this. Those guys live on this lake in the summer.

Alright guys, I'm skipping a club tournament to fish the FM event. What would an annual event be without the defending champs? grin.gif hah, looking forward to the challenge of repeating, but it definately will not be easy with the amount of great sticks here at FM. I like the decision of it being on Waconia, should be some good bags brought in and I'm really looking forward to it.

We still have a couple spots left. This is the perfect event to get yourself acquainted with competitive bass fishing. Plus, you get a chance to meet a bunch of folks from FM. By no means do you have to be a bass pro to fish this event. Even a walleye guy has a shot here. grin.gif

"Even a walleye guy has a shot?"

So your saying I have a chance! Don't try to build my confidence up too much Ray. I much prefer to hide in the weeds with nothing expected of me.

I do think a lot of walleye guys, which I am at heart, would benifit and enjoy these bass tournaments. There are not a lot of walleye events that one can enter for under $50.00 per boat! I'd fish walleye tournaments, except they are usually $350.00 or more. Club bass events and FM events like this one are great for they are inexpensive, you learn a lot from experienced anglers, and they are fun. You also get to fish competitively for a reasonable amount. If you don't bring in a big bag, then your pocket book won't hurt as much as your ego.

Come on walleye guys and sign up. I'd love to see a couple of the bass boys faces when they see a bunch of boats floating around with drift socks hanging off the sides.
