Help Please - Best viewing for the H2Oc on the boat?

FL SNIPER

Question

I recently purchased an H2Oc gps with the lake information. Yesterday was the first day I tried it in the boat. I mounted it to my boat using one of those RAM mounts. Everything works great but I have trouble seeing the screen...I believe due to the sunlight. And when my shadow goes across the screen I can't see it at all. I'm sure you guys have run into this situation before.

What's the best advice for viewing the H2Oc on the boat? Any special setting I should put it on?

Thanks for the advice guys.

Well I stopped by the auto store last night and picked up a cigerette adapter so I can run the H2Oc off my boat battery. I installed it last night...and set the H2Oc so its light is "continous" and I adjusted its "brightness" to high...so hopefully that will help things....or at least get them as good as they can be. I guess I'll find out this weekend. grin.gif

I am a novice with this H2Oc so if you have any more tips please let me know...(i.e. best setting to have when fishing, when traveling, etc.)

Thanks you guys...awesome site! grin.gif

I hope your setting adjustments work. I returned the H2OC and got the H2O for the reasons you stated. The H2OC is difficult to see in bright sunlight, either direct or indirect. I did a side-by-side comparison between the two and the H2O was better. In low light the H2OC was much better.

I find myself tilting mine all over the place to get a good angle too. I have wondered about the high contrast setting - might be for night use - wonder if this would help.

Cabela's has a screen magnifier that connects to the RAM mount and goosenecks what appears to be a magnifying glass the same size as the screen over the unit. This may be an option too.
