Something Tells me your a wise guy. Thats OK I still like you.

It was a beautiful day to be outside today. 60F no wind and almost all sun.

I did catch 5 Trout all around 12" and all Rainbows. It was fishing in a barrel. The fish were all stocked earlier this week so not catching 5 would mean I haven't been doing my homework. I did put them all back. In three week all the Trout will be taken from the area untill the next stocking. But by then the shallows in the lakes (Hay no dams at one end) will be in full bloom. A great time for a flyrod. Carp and pan fish till your arms fall off.

I took the whole family; wife, two 9 year-old boys, one seven year-old boy. The only trout the kids had caught before was indoors at sportshows (doesn't that sound sad). Yesterday each boy caught his first trout from a wild river; we were in southeastern Minnesota. My youngest caught a 14 incher that we released. Some days; it's good to be a dad!

nice work guys. i sure miss those winona area streams. i used to hit the one on the way to lewiston for a couple of hours before i went to the golf course. that makes for a nice day. i think pickwik was my favorite, unless it was little pick. and lots of other spots that my buddy lance would take me to. it's been almost ten years so those names have long been forgoton. can't wait to get back there cool.gif

Went out saturday and spent the morning around the Choice area. We caught several nice browns around 14" and released them all. Black spinners with a silver blade worked the best as well as your brown trout raps. Could not believe all the garbage around frown.gif. I was never so happy to find a beat up old cooler on wheels so we could take out more junk than what we could fit in our vests. Word of advice ...bring a garbage bag along unless you want ants crawling all over yourself. That afternoon we tried different spots around Rush and Pine Creek and was surprised to find out how much sand had washed in. All in all it was a great day to be out.

Got out to Saturday and Sunday. The crappies were on fire in the METRO! In about 2 hours, we pulled atleast 80 crappies out of this little lake. After the feeding frenzy, we went down to good ol Hay Creek. Bright day, no wind, lots of sun! I even got a sun burn to prove my fun day! I got about 6 total. Nothing over 12 but it sure felt good to dip the boots and cast a line! And of course...everything was released! grin.gif

Had an awesome weekend in Houston County. We fished 2 streams and hammered 'em on both. Saturday we caught some nice browns and rainbows. Sunday I could not believe it though... I caught a grandslam 1,2,3... Second hole I tried I caught a nice 10" rainbow, went to another hole and found the spot. First cast 9" Brookie and then a 14" Brown. Stayed near that hole a few hours and caught a ton of small ones and couldn't get the tunas to hit the bait. I had a blast... before this weekend I had never caught a brookie. I found one hole that was full of them. Caught 12 in a row on 2 crawlers, I can't wait for next time. grin.gif

I knew you were a wise guy.

"i used to hit the one on the way to lewiston for a couple of hours before i went to the golf course."

Now that is good. I knew I liked you for some reason. grin.gif

I didn't do to bad. 21 1/2, 18, 16 and lost 3 in the 20+ range. Would of been a great day if I didn't lose all 3 of them in about a 10 minutes. O'well that's fishing for you.

Just having 3 fish over 20" on the line in the time period of 10 minutes is very impressive! Good on ya!

Now you've got a good reason to go back. smile.gif

Managed to get out for 2 hours late yesterday night. Seen one on the first cast go about 18 inches. Must of seen me because he never came back. Walked down stream to a hole where I seen 20+ inch trout before. After about 10 cast seen one about 18 inches follow the rap out, but didn't bite. Two cast later a 20 incher did bite. Released him to fight another day.

I would post some pics, but they could give away the stream I'm fishing. I'm not about to do that.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
