Hanson and LFC get an A+ for the day!

We are going to try to keep this as simple as we can.

I will post entire rules later.

Looks like we have some interest already.

Couple of things I think I'm going to do.

Like LFC mentioned there is going to be a time limit to submit photos. I've learned that with this format people have "learned" to lay in the weeds till the final day and then submit. I really don't like that. I think there will be a 48hr rule. There is really no way to enforce it, so I hope people are honest.

Also I've thought about the monthly totals and have come up with a thought.

At the end of the month, teams would be ranked by their point totals. Then the top 3 teams would be awarded points for "team of the year" accordingly. First place would get 5 pts, 2nd would get 3 and 3rd would get 1pt.

The montly totals would then reset at the begining of each month and a new control item would be released.

I think this is a good idea in that not only would it keep people interested, it would also keep a team from making one trip to Lockport and winning the whole deal.

Also I would like to have a digital only rule, but I realize that some of you may not have access to a digtal camera, so I think that I would accept a scan of a print photo as long as it is emailed to me (email addy will be provided) and it clearly shows fish and control item.

I will make a seperate post to gather participants, please be sure to post there if you are in.

i dont know if this would be something you guys would be interested in, but maybe to help equal things out, instead of making teams random, dtro or someone could pick teammates based on experience and how often they fish, and try to keep teams on the same level. that way it isnt say dennis, hanson, rushing and dtro on the same team or something like that. try and let each team have some variety as to what kind of fisherman they have. just a thought.

Harvey Thats exactly what I mean,Willmar area small fish Mankato Jordan, you guys catch 1 fish and it could equal 5-10 of mine!So I'm at a disadvantage. What is a control Item? Also I cant send pictures or even know how,no camera no scanner.so I'm probably out.

Yep, this is all about good times and friendly competition.

You can also fish with any other opposing team member as well. In fact it's a good chance to knock his big fish off as you are netting it grin.gif

I will be posting the official rules by the end of weekend I would hope.

I think I will make May 1 the deadline to sign up and the start date will be the first Fri in May. Control item will be released late Thursday.

Sparcebag, a control item is just a fancy word for an image for phrase on a piece of paper that needs to be present in your picture to prove you caught it in the appropriate time frame.

It's tough to do without a digital camera or scanner. I guess you could use a disposable and bring it in to someplace to get digital images, but that might be a hassle for you.

I was thinking about allowing new teams in as the the new month starts (in case newcomers would like to join), but that might lead to picking your own teams, so that probably won't work.

Well, we tentatively have 16 so far so that is great. Enough for 4 teams of 4. That was my goal. I would like to get one or two more teams, but 4 will work good.

For those of you that are in. Please vote for the following:

Monthly total as I described before with reset scores, or no montly totals and season only total, where scores would not be reset.

Team monthly totals sound fine but I think there should be an extra point given to the team with the largest fish for that month, because a team might land the biggest fish and still not win the month. I think the largest fish should be rewarded. Also perhaps individual totals that count towards the whole season?

I think we should also look into some type of gathering in June to meet team mates. Also maybe some of the FM sponsors might want to kick down some schwag for prizes at the end of the season?

Either way sounds fine to me. Monthly reset totals would be the funnest way, but it might scare off those folks who don't know if they are going to fish often enough to help out thier team.

Rushing, I think that is a good idea. 1pt for largest fish each month. Also I think we could do a Team Champion, and individual champion. That way even if the "team" isn't able to get some fish, it doesn't hurt the guy catching a bunch.

Great ideas!

I assume this thread is for "King Of The Cats 2007". In that case, I think season reset option is what I would go with.

So, your saying reset at end of month, or just one season?

I guess as a compromise we could break it into 3, 3 month segments instead of 6.

Hopefully I should have this wrapped up by the begining of next week.

Dtro,

Season! I think the longer we go, the better chance we have at bringing in that big catch. I would not discourge longer than a month. I am looking forward to this. bring on the big cats!
