What a Finish

I am not a Hendrick fan at all. But the finish today proves that the 24 48 & 5 can't win without knocking a guy out of the way!!!!!!!! If any other driver or team was in 1st they would have been knock out of the way. Or is Gordan turning into a nice clean driver now that he is becoming a Daddy?? I think if it wasn't a team mate it would have been SEE YA!!!!!!

Hendrick did well. If looks could kill, JJ would be six feet under. Gordo did not look happy when he climbed out of his car. JJ can upset even his team mates.

Gordon was obviously faster there at the end. It was good tight racing but JJ definatly played the Teammate card. JJ blocked really hard but Gordon obviously knew the heat he would take from the team if he wrecked him.

Remember this season you get 20 Bonus points for winning this year. Those are big. Gordon is still points leader though.

Plus Jeff would have tied Dale Sr. for all time wins. I am sure he thought about that.

I believe they get the bonus money for winning and leading the points. Nice finish but if it wasn't for a team mate old gordo would have more points and bonus $$$$$$$$$$$$

What a finish indeed! That was fun! Good rubbing and racin, but not wreckin, that is what kind of racing I like to see at short tracks like martinsville! Yeah, Gordo was a little mad and whined about blocking, but at the end he admitted Jimmy did everything right. it was just plain good racing. Now I just hope they don't remove this track from the schedule! Don't think it can't be done! remember N. wilksboro and rockingham had good racin too!

Nobody like to lose and Gordon is no different. Had it been anybody other than JJ in front of him he would have forgot that the car had a brake pedal.

If it were anybody else other than a teammate, Gordon would have won. However, if it was somebody else, I really don't think Jeff would have wrecked the guy. I don't know how good Sr. was at moving people out of the way and not wrecking them, but IMO Jeff is the best one out there today when it comes to moving people without wrecking them. Stewart a close second. If it was anybody else, Gordon would have won and the other guy would have taken between 4th - 7th.

I do believe, though, with this being the second week in a row he plays second fiddle to a teammate, that future races like this he may not be as "cordial". Gordon's a winner, and he knows perfectly well that the 2nd place finisher is the first loser.

It was a great race. Jeff had the better car and had position on him a couple times where I thought for sure he'd make the pass, but Johnson pinched him down hard a couple times and cut him off pretty bad once. I was a little surprised Jimmie raced him that hard as Jeff wasn't racing him that way, but what comes around goes around...

A very exciting race regardless. I LOVE the short tracks. We need more of them, not less!

If I heard right jimmy Johnson's team copyed Jeff Gordon setup, because they were so bad in practice.. If I was gordon I would be mad tooo.

Yes thats true, but Jeff owns part of that team so he is going to help him out. If it was any other car Jeff would have moved him and won. By the looks of Gordons front end after the race, it looked like he tried to move him pretty hard.

Those short tracks have it all over the others for a good race to watch. COT cars were not to bad looking except for Harvicks problems.

With Gordon being part owner I'm sure he had to think very hard as to if he was going to move him.

There is also a chance he was thinking big picture.

I was a little disgusted, AGAIN, at the fans throwing containers at the winning car. It must have been those Gordon fans, upset that he didn't win???

I saw that too. It really gives the spectaters a good image eh'. I'm going to guess that they where cheering for a different chevy. I think I saw that they were "bud" cans.

That would be par for the course for that redneck Bud crowd. As I've said before, the main thing that keeps me from really liking Jr. is how obnoxious the vast majority of his fans are.

But we dont know who those cans were for and since Jr is the most popular driver, I would have to deduct that the trash was for the Hendrick drivers. Only makes sense.

The cans were from #24 fans. They were mad that JJ was blocking to the extreme, and that the only way Gordon could have got past him was to wreck him. True, they were "Bud" cans...even Gordon fans want to be on the Dale Jr. side just a little bit.

Talking about throwing beer cans, I heard Schrader telling a story once about him and Big E. Big E wrecked him at Darlington and both cars were up against the wall. (drivers side) Schrader says the fans were hand him beer though the fence while others were dumping their's on Big E. Neither one could get out of their car until the wreckers moved them.
