Do you guys realize that Juan Pablo is only 2 points behind Jr.? Not to shabby for a "rookie". I'm sure Jr. will stay ahead of him for the rest of the year but if he can keep pace with Jr. that will say alot about this mans tallent.

You are right and this is not meant as a dig on Jr., just kind of showing that this open wheel guy is a pretty good driver. I bet this opens the door for more open wheel drivers from Europe and South America to come over since NASCAR is more about marketing and going to new markets now.

Hey Meaney.....you and I don't see eye-to-eye very often in here (NASCAR forum), but I'm with ya 110% on this one!

I'll shoot and eat a crow if I have to, but I think most my meals will be steak and chicken! grin.gif

bass my friend you best be searching for crow recipes before too long because the dude can flat out drive a car, always could. The whole point is he's a Indy 500 and F1 winner already, he's not an up and coming driving who's never done anything yet (say like Regan Smith or the other rookies). He's no more a rookie than Stewart was when he came to NASCAR after winning an Indy championship. Used to be you couldn't even run for rookie of the year in a NASCAR if you had another major series championship. That's probably the way it still should be too. Of course we also called John Andretti who ran in Cup for a decade a rookie in the Busch series last year as they did Kurt Busch a Nextel Cup champion???!!!!????!!!!!

I agree... Montoya has been on the fast track in learning these cars. yes, he may get a bit aggressive out there, but he know quite well what his car can and cannot do. heck...in Mexico, they changed one or two of his tires by 1/2 lb without telling him before his qualifying lap. He came on the radio asking "what did you do to the car?" That was the ONLY thing that kept him from the pole that day.

Oh.by the way:

Below are some recipes that have been donated by fellow members. Feel free to try these or to experiment with your own creation. There is no reason why any recipe for dove, quail or grouse to be found in a wild game cookbook would not work just as well. Then you can decide whether to tell your guests what went into the recipe before or after they have finished. Bon Appetite!!

Summer Crow Kabobs

submitted by Gordon Krause (The CrowMaster)

Ingredients

16 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (8 crows)

16 pieces of green pepper

16 cherry tomatoes

8 button mushrooms

8 ears of sweet corn

1 1/2 cups of Teriyaki sauce

1/2 cup melted butter

8 kabob skewers

Cut each piece of crow in half and place in a covered bowl with the Teriyaki sauce over night. Clean and cut each ear of corn into 3 pieces. Cook in boiling salt water for 10 minutes. Alternately put corn (3 pieces), green peppers (3 pieces) and cherry tomatoes (3) along with 4 pieces of crow meat on each skewer. Use 1 mushroom to top each skewer. Brush with melted butter and place on preheated grill for about 4 minutes. Flip, butter again and place back on grill for another 4 minutes. Country "C" Medallions

submitted by Marta Hnizda

Ingredients

24 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (12 crows)

2 medium onions (chopped)

6 tblsp of oil

5 slices of bacon (chopped)

1 big or 2 small turnips (peeled & chopped)

1/3 of celery root (peeled & chopped) - note: substitute with celery

3 tblsp wet mustard

1 tblsp lemon juice

salt, pepper to taste

dash of paprika

2 bay leaves

2 juniper berries - note: substitute with allspice

1 tblsp Majorjam (crushed)

1 heaping tblsp of mayonnaise

water

Preparation

Sauté onions and bacon in oil until golden. Add meat, spices and sauté some more. Add vegetables and the rest of the ingredients except mayonnaise. Add enough water to keep the meat almost covered. Simmer slowly, adding water as it evaporates. In about 3 hours you will see that the meat is soft enough to cut with a fork. Take the meat out and place on heated platter or dish to keep warm. Remove the bay leaf and put all the gravy (about 2 cups) in a blender and blend. When thoroughly blended, add mayonnaise and blend shortly.

Add gravy to meat and serve over rice with a winter salad. Serves four adults.

2 fresh chilies chopped

2 ribs celery

3 cloves garlic minced

¼ pound butter

16oz. chicken broth

8oz. ketchup

1/8 teaspoon white pepper

1/2 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

1 tablespoons hot pepper sauce

1/2 tablespoons garlic sauce

1/4 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme

1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice

1 pound (12 pieces, or so) crow breast chopped into bite-sized pieces

Preparation

Brown the crow breasts in a skillet with butter or oil. When browned, place them in a Sauté onion, celery, chilies and garlic in butter until tender. Add the above ingredients and all of the remaining ingredients to a crock pot and cook on low for 6-7 hours.

To serve, heap about 1 cup of rice in the center of the plate, and ladle a generous amount of the sauce around it. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Crow Casserole

Ingredients

12 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (6 crows)

2 quart sauerkraut

6 slices of bacon

1/3 cup of chopped onions

Preparation

Brown the crow breasts in a skillet with butter or oil. When browned, place them in a casserole dish on 1/2 inch layer of sauerkraut. Lay a 1/2 strip of bacon on each 1/2 breast and sprinkle the onion on them. Next, add another layer of sauerkraut and some of the juice. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Makes 2 servings.

Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of Dale jr. and it pains me to say this but, Dale jr. has not exactly been the measuring stick for success in Nascar the last few years.

Now if you could say that he is only a few points behind Stewart or JJ then you got yourself a statement.

He still gets less media than Jr., and if you guys where around for Jr.'s rookie season in cup you will have to agree that Jr. got more attention then than Montoya gets now.

WELL DUHHHH...Look at what his LAST name is...EARNHARDT. That is why he got huge attention his rookie year in the cup. Or am I wrong?

Kinda like Jr.?? I can see your point as that is the reason that I don't like Jr. He gets much more media than his tallent calls for IMO.

Harv, that's a pretty safe bet since this is his first YEAR in a stock car and dosen't have years of Busch or Truck races to fall back on.

I know its his first year but Juan has much expierence in racing and is on a good team. So many rookies can come into cup today and do well as all the teams are good. It is not like years ago when there were only a few good teams.

Much easier today than 15 years ago.

Another reason is because he is a Indy 500 winner and a Cart Champion and a Formula One Champion and has won races or more continents than Jr. has!

I'll touche your touche. grin.gif

At least we both think that the 17 is one of the best teams in Cup racing.

It's only been five races (now six after today) and the field hasn't settled out yet. I'm guessing after some more time the regulars will be in the top 10-12 and the field fillers will recapture their normal spots. A bad race here and there this early will put a driver in a hole while another driver finishing about where he'll finish on average for the rest of the season will put them about even at this point. The cream will rise to the top as always unless something goes horribly wrong. It's like calling the presidential election with only 5 states reporting....it's still too early to call at this point!

I would agree and Juan M will have some bad luck yet and also fall in the standings. He is not time tested in cup yet. Long year and many races to go. I will agree so far so good but its not over for many more races.

I've always thought that "rookies" have some great first years. I don't know if they are out there flying by the seat of there pants or if they just do'nt know any better.
