Hiya -

From a "large lake in Italy." Caught trolling. Somewhat over 50 lbs, well over 50 inches. Exact weight isn't known - fish was released...which is cool.

Will probably find out more, but that's what I know right now - from a pretty legit source.

There are pike, there are big pike...and then there's this. Wow.

Cheers,

Rob

DNR HSOforum:

Muskellunge

World record: 67 pounds, 8 ounces, Hayward, Wis., 1949

A cousin to the muskie is the northern pike. Northerns aren't as big--"only" up to 45 pounds--but they are far more common.

After looking at this thread the other day I spent a couple hours Googling Pike, Northern, yada, yada. In the overall picture the US and Canada seem, forgive me, second rate to the British Isles and Europe for Pike, is that a different strain or is it the Northern we have? tongue.giftongue.gif
