Chatterbaits

northerns love them. Let me play out a scenario for you. (Crank Crank crank) "hey ike this new chatterbait gives off a ton of vibration" Oh yea theres one (now the snot rockets tooth is about to come in contact with the line) TINK "oh another 8 bucks why don't i just throw a lucky craft"

All joking aside i have never thrown one but it is like any new lure fade they come and kinda stick around. From what i hear lures that produce down south don't always produce up north. That is a hasty generalization but true sometimes i believe. ike

They do put off a ton of vibration. And they do catch fish, you can also get them a little cheeper now that a few dirfferent companies are making them. You can also order the parts and make them yourself from stamina now I heard.

but yes.. fish it just like a spinnerbait or crankbait.

I personally love them. Even though the pike hit them, the bass love them as well. Used them often in tournaments last summer and caught a lot of fish, nice fish. They work from opening day on spawning fish through September. The vibration is crazy. Good fishin.

The one that I bought at the end of last season hooked one fish the day after I bought it... Unfortunately I didn't get to see said fish (I'm assuming it was a northern) as it hit, rod bent in half, drag started screaming, and then...nothing mad.gif. The line broke and I was left to utter some colorful phrases grin.gif. I picked up a couple over the winter though, so I'm going back to get the "big one that got away". I've also seen some nice bass pulled in by others who have used them.

I found that they have a place in the tool box last fall. Looking forward to more experimentation this season. I think the hype drove the price up a little bit last year. There are differences in the different brands as far as vibration, speed at which they need to be worked, component quality etc.. It is that time of year when we stimulate the economy with the purchase new baits we just can not live without crazy.gif

I didnt try them last year. Figured I could wait a year and see what the general consensus was. It seems some people love them and others had little luck. Ive got a couple chatter blades made by poor boy lures that you can add to any jig. I like the idea of being able to add the blades to any jig color or weight.

Well I went to the gander mt in eden praire the new one and bought four boo yah boogie baits there version of the chatterbait. It's pretty interesting the hook has like a spring on it so when fish jump it bends so the hook won't release, I can't wait to experiment.

I have read an article about chatterbait and also look at reviews at both cabelas and bass pro websites and found out that the booyah chatterbait have a slight problem

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
