Abu Revo sx and Rods to go with it

Hey bass guys, I am looking at getting a coulple of the Revo SX's. Has anybody seen them in action personally yet. I noticed that a few of the top guys at the classic were using them, and I haven't heard anything bad about them. Also, what are your opinions on the Shimano line of Crucial, and Compre Rods. I have had a coulple of friends say that the Crucial line of rods are great. I think the Crucials run around $140 and the Compres are $100. Crucials are IM9 and the Compres are IM8. What to you guys think.

Thanks,

Craig

I can only help you with the shimano stuff.. Both Rods, the Compre and the Crucial are great rods. The Crucial is a top quility rod for sure. As you stated it is IM9 rated, and has top of hte line Fugi guides and handle. The Compre has Fugi Hardeloy guides. The Crucial is slightly more sensitive, and a little lighter. I will admit I like my crucial rods a little better than my Compre's but they are still a great rod... And you can not beat the over the counter warrently.. You break it, bring it to any shimano dealer and if they have the rod in stock they will exchange it!

Hiya -

Revos are pretty nice reels. Competative prices for what you get too.

As far as rods go, I really like the Crucials. I have a couple of them now (started out with a XF XH Swimbait rod as a muskie rod, liked it so got another bass rod) and I could easily talk myself into more. Really an awesome rod, especially when you compare them as a top of the line model to some other brands...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

There's IM9 now? Sheesh where have I been.

I had a Shimano Clarus (IM7) that I loved until I snapped it. All my fault. I bring it to Cabela's (since Gander doesn't carry them anymore or fighting with Shimano corp) and the 2006 Clarus's aren't in a 1 piece! Yikes! So I upgraded for a few more $ and got the Compre. No receipt either. I thought I loved the Clarus, but the Compre is the cat's meow. Now you go and to tell me there's a better one confused.gif? I'm slowly changing over to Shimano for both rods and reels. They just,... last.

And this is coming from a Quantum guy shocked.gif

I too have been looking at the revo sx to put on the compre I have had for 5 years. In fact I have sent it off to my wife for Fathers day gift ideas.

This will be the first high $ bait caster I have bought for fishing. I can't wait to go fishing with a reel that won't fall apart in my hands or make really wierd noises. Now if I can only educate my thumb to keep from getting those backlashes.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
