BEARS TANK JOHNSON..... WOW

jigging wader

Recommended Posts

All I remember was bears fans rediculing the Vikings during their game on national televison last year about the boat scandel, Now this guys busted a few days ago with guns in his car and now he's back in the bar with his body guard shot DEAD. I think the NFC north has a new all thug team. I just heard about this, is it true? I goggled his name and this guys been in a lot of trouble recently.

Talk about a slow learner. He is on 18 mos. probation as it is for a couple of weapon charges from last year. With the injuries the Bears D has had recently this was the last thing they needed. What an (Contact Us Please).

I will never understand why a lot pro athletes can't understand they have the world by the short ones, and all they have to do is work hard and keep their nose clean. Tank had already lost millions because of trouble in college that caused him to fall in the draft.

I tell you, you can take the Thug out of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the Thug. What a waste. A few points of clarification for all you up in MN. The guns were found in his house, not his car. There was a neighbor who turned him in because he had been shooting some of the guns prior to that out in his back yard (granted it is a large wooded back yard but it is still a backyard. So the cops busted down his door while he was at practice and they popped his thug buddy, Willie B. Posey on a marijuana possession charge. The charges that they put on Tank were minor misdemeanors that only warrented a $1000 bail which he only posted 10% of, $100. The sports talk guys here are saying that these charges will only result in a fine because the only thing they popped him for was not having his FOID cards on the guns. The next day after posting bail, Tank was at the Ice Bar, downtown Chicago, and was on the dance floor when a fight broke out and they say his "bodyguard" Willie B. Posey tried to break up the fight and somebody pulled a gun and shot him once in the arm and the bullet traveled to his chest and he was DOA at the hospital.

The Bears organization however will not look so calmly on the situation. I know how they work and they don't put up with anywhere near the garbage that other teams have (MN, DALLAS, OAKLAND etc) My educated guess is that Tank Johnson has seen his last down as a Chicago Bear. They will pay him for the rest of the season and just not dress him as there is nothing they can do punatively to him and then just cut him at the end of the season. I look for him to pop up in Dallas, Oakland or Philly. Those would be my guesses.

I guess I could hang the poor showing today by my beloved Bears on the Tank situation, but I won't. They better get their heads out of their collective rectums or they will be "one and done" when the playoffs roll around, probably getting knocked off by some 9-7 team that is hungry and full of pi$$ and vinegar.

Hey if they cut him he could always end up in Cinncy, I bet they would love to have another player who likes to get into trouble with the law. They could make him feel right at home. He could really take them a long way with trying to get every starter on the team having a rap sheet. grin.gif

Windy, are you forgetting about Ricky Manning. He's one of the fine citizens that your Bears are happy to put up with. Remember, he's the one that beat a guy at a Denny's because "the guy looked like a nerd". The Bears are no different than any of the other teams in that as long as you have talent, you have a job.

Snowman,

The fact that Tank Johnson is not playing after Tommy Harris went down for the season just blows your theory out of the water. The Bears really need Johnson right now but they are really leaning on dumping him. I guess talent only goes so far. There are no teams in any major sport with all angels on their team, with the exception of the Major League Baseball team in California (pun noted), but the Bears take a little harder look on character than some of the teams in the NFL. Dat's all I'm sayin.

Your educated guess is Wrong they are not going to cut him get off your soapbox.

Could you give specific instances where Minnesota put up with a thug like this who has been arrested at least three times in the last year? and I'm not talking a lap dance.

By the way what ever happened with YOUR Chicago White Sox shortstop that was involved in a murder???

Pier,

I guess molesting women is OK up in Gods Country. How about a head coach who scalps tickets to the Super Bowl...Forget about that one? There is some real "leadership" from the top down. I won't even begin to touch on the steriod issue either. Oh, and could you list for the record the "arrests" you speak of. I believe you said three times. Enlighten us all. Not having a FOID card amounts to a parking ticket, just a fine. The total bail set for the six offenses amounted to a whopping $1000 which he had to post 10% of, $100. WOW, that is some heavy stuff.

Believe me, if the Bears thought this was a hangin offensive, Mr. Johnson would have been sent packing. Aren't some of those "love boat" boys still on the roster up there in Queen-Land? Just axe-in!

Scalping...LOL...Love boat......LOL.

Yes 3 arrest within a year or so, got caught at nightclub with a gun and was charged with a Weapon offense, then his second arrest he got into a fight with a Police officer and was arrested for felony assault and his THIRD arrest he was caught with guns and drugs in his house........ smirk.gif

Oh yea, to clarify the arrest for the scuffle with the police officer was null and void as the officer dropped the charges. There was no conviction on that. He did get 18 months probation and 40 hours community service after a parking lot valet said he saw a gun in Johnson's vehicle. Sounds a lot like the Scottie Pippen incident. Pippen left the guy a lousy tip and he decided to call the cops after seeing what he thought was a gun. I guess Tank should have dropped a Benjamin on the valet and he would have never mentioned anything.

So in all this, Tank has been convicted of exactly one charge. Not saying this is acceptable, I stated earlier that he should be gone but compared to some of the other stuff that is going on in the NFL this is much ado about nothing. That is why the Bears decided to keep him. It's not the best situation but it is not a "hangin offense".

Pier,

As long as we are taking a stroll down memory lane, I thought we could talk about a few of the other stand up guys who wore the purple and gold.

Koren Robinson: DUI, Fleeing police, 100 mph in a 55. Felony, 3 misdemeanors. Blood Alcohol Content .11%

Dwight Smith: Molestation involving a women in a stairwell, could not afford the Motel 6 I guess.

Bryant McKinnie and Marcus Johnson: Fight at a gas station.

Kenny Mixon 4 DUI charges

EJ Henderson DUI charge

Mike Nattiel and Steve Farmer: Beating a man outside Tabu nightclub.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

Truce, Pier?

Windy, check your facts Jack! Koren Robinson= cut after that incident(signed by the Pack btw). I'd have to check, but last I knew doin' the deed in a stairwell was indecent conduct, but to call Smith a molester??? I'll give you the rest, and I'd like to see them go too. Lets get back to the original topic, remember the Bears are different and are going to get rid of Johnson because they don't put up w/ that stuff. oh, I guess maybe they'll make an exception w/ Harris out and all... Or the fact that you never did respond to the Ricky Manning thing (remember he plead GUILTY to FELONY assault). Maybe you need to worry more about your glass house when you start to throwin' stones.

You football guys might not know but the Baseball-Windy is very good at evading the issue (I know Pier knows this), but I gotta say that so far I am with Windy on this one - 'cept he should not be so confident that the Bears would be dump'n their thug. Of course, someday he'll be gone and then Windy can come on and say "I told you so".

Two consenting adults isn't exactly molestation around here Windbag. Smith was also benched for a game after that incident. He got the same punishment for doing the deed that Tank the Saint got for all of the above.

Rumor has it on AM 670 the Score that the gun charges on Tank will be dropped as the guns are registerd in Arizona where he is declared a resident.

I don't know what this will do to his probation. It depends on what the terms are.

His 1 game suspension is due to conduct detrimental to the team as Jerry Angelo told him to clean up his act and a couple of days later goes out to the clubs with someone who he was told to stay away from.

Pier,

Fill me in on the charges that have been filed against Mr. Uribe.....Well, we're WAITING !!! ( Pardon my Judge Schmalls impersonation there )

And as for the politics prediction, too late, I'm already in politics. I am also a salesman full time. Now that spells Trouble with a capitol T and that rhymes with P and that stands for....No, not Pool, Politics! Pardon my Guys and Dolls reference there!
